The present invention is directed to setting an operation parameter of a grain milling machine appropriately according to the characteristics of grain targeted for processing. An operation aid apparatus for a grain milling facility including a grain milling machine and a color sorter includes a first acquisition portion configured to acquire first information regarding characteristics of grain that should be processed in the grain milling facility, and a second acquisition portion configured to acquire second information regarding an evaluation of a sorting result acquired by milling first grain by the grain milling machine and sorting them by the color sorter after that. The second information is associated with the first information regarding the first grain. The operation aid apparatus further includes a setting portion configured to determine an operation parameter for processing second grain by the grain milling machine based on the first information regarding the second grain that should be newly processed in the grain milling facility and the second information associated with the first information regarding the first grain.

Grain-milling machine

An abrasive grain-milling unit and a friction grain-milling unit are located on upper and lower portions of a pedestal, respectively. The friction grain-milling unit includes a grain feed trough to which a milled grain discharge trough of the abrasive grain milling unit is connected. A two-way grain feed trough and change-over valve is located above the abrasive grain-milling unit and is capable of selectively feeding grains either directly to the friction grain-milling unit or to the friction grain-milling unit via the abrasive grain-milling unit.

Grain-milling machine

An abrasive grain-milling unit and a friction grain-milling unit are located on upper and lower portions of a pedestal, respectively. The friction grain-milling unit includes a grain feed trough to which a milled grain discharge trough of the abrasive grain milling unit is connected. A two-way grain feed trough and change-over valve is located above the abrasive grain-milling unit and is capable of selectively feeding grains either directly to the friction grain-milling unit or to the friction grain-milling unit via the abrasive grain-milling unit.

An automated programmable processor-controlled system and related methods for packaging an agricultural sample such as soil for testing for various chemical properties such as plant available nutrients. The packaging system includes a sample packaging apparatus processes raw bulk sample material collected in the agricultural field to be expediently and conveniently containerized for processing and analysis. The apparatus may include a grinder, compactor, container magazine, and rotatable carousel which carries a sample container between various processing stations. Bulk sample material is reduced in particle size by the grinder which is then transferred to the compactor. An actuated plunger fills and compacts the sample material into the sample container. A decapper automatically both removes and replaces the container cap before and after filling respectfully. An RFID device reads the container ID tag and writes the GPS sample collection location to the tag. The system is controlled by one or more programmable processors.
