An electrostatic air filter connected to a high voltage source, including an air flow channel, an ion generator, at least one corona electrode and at least one cumulative electrode, the corona electrodes and the cumulative electrodes are configured so that corona discharges occur between the corona electrodes and the cumulative electrodes due to a first potential difference, causing ionization of contaminant particles present in the air flow channel. A separator of contaminant particles is disposed in the air flow channel and includes input and output electrodes that enable the flow of air therethrough in a direction away from the input electrode to the output electrode and further to the channel outlet. During operation, there is a first potential difference between the corona and input electrodes and a second potential difference between the input and output electrodes, so that the electric field strength in the space between the input and output electrodes is directed opposite to that in the space between the ion generator and the input electrode.

The electric dust collecting device according to an embodiment includes a mixing part into which outside air flows, an electrostatic sprayer configured to spray droplets charged to the mixing part to be combined with contaminants contained in outside air, a dust collecting part configured to form an electric field and adsorb droplets combined with contaminants, and a draining part combined with the dust collection part to discharge the droplets adsorbed in the dust collecting part.

Electrokinetic devices and methods are described with the purpose of collecting assayable agents from a dielectric fluid medium. Electrokinetic flow may be induced by the use of plasma generation at high voltage electrodes and consequent transport of charged particles in an electric voltage gradient. Actively growing mold releases the carbohydrate cell wall component (1.fwdarw.3)-β-D-Glucan into the air. The invention recognizes that the airborne fraction is that which affects respiratory health and selectively tests for a free form which is soluble in aqueous medium. The sample to be analysed is preferably collected by the electrokinetic propulsion method described, but any air sampling method such as filtration, impactor or impingement may be applicable.

The present disclosure relates to an electrostatic charger and an electrostatic precipitator securing a wide space for charging suspended fine particles contained in a processing airflow. The electrostatic charger includes a discharge electrode formed of a plurality of fibrous conductors and provided to generate and diffuse ions by a discharge, a ground electrode maintained at a ground potential and provided to attract the ions generated and diffused by the discharge electrode to charge suspended fine particles contained in a processing airflow by the ions, where the discharge electrode is disposed between the ground electrodes in the processing airflow, and all or at least a part of the plurality of fibrous conductors of the discharge electrode are disposed on a downstream side of the processing airflow further than an end portion of the ground electrode on the most upstream side of the processing airflow.

The charging apparatus includes a plurality of counter electrodes formed in a plate shape and arranged in a direction intersecting with a ventilation direction to allow respective surfaces thereof to follow the ventilation direction, and a plurality of high voltage electrodes formed in a wire shape and installed between the plurality of counter electrodes. The plurality of counter electrodes includes a first counter electrode having a first electrode area, and a second counter electrode having a second electrode area less than the first electrode area. The first counter electrode and the second counter electrode are alternately arranged.

Electrostatic precipitator system having a grid for collection of particles

The present invention relates to an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) system (1) for removal of particles from a flue gas flowing in a flow passage (4) being delimited by a primary collection in the form of a collection plate (5). The system comprises a discharge electrode (11) arranged in the flow passage and connected to a high voltage generator (12) providing for an electric field around the discharge electrode. The system further has a secondary collection electrode in the form of a grid (101) arranged within the collection plate and made of an electrically conductive material. The presence of such a grid improves the efficiency of the precipitator. In some embodiments, the ESP system comprises an actuator (112) for moving the grid upwards and letting it drop onto an internal bottom structure (109). The movement between the collection plate and the grid as well as the impact force imparted to the dropping grid both result in a removal of collected particles.
