The collector has a collection electrode exposed in the gas channel and a counter electrode facing the collection electrode with the gas channel interposed therebetween. The housing has a guard electrode that absorbs a leakage current flowing from the counter electrode toward the collection electrode via the housing.

A pollution control system for removing particle and gas phase pollutants in a waste airstream exhausted from commercial cooking operations may include a plurality of filters arranged within a housing for filtering particle and gas phase pollutants in the waste airstream. Various ones of the filters may be composed of a variety of different materials, and ozone may be provided within the housing to assist with removal of the pollutants. In some examples, a wash mechanism may be included to wash surfaces of a filter to remove grease therefrom. In some examples, the system may further include means to spray droplets (such as in a fog or mist form) into the waste airstream to condense a portion of gas phase pollutants into condensed particles.

Apparatus for treating gas

Known wet electrostatic precipitators are large and inefficient. The present invention enables the production of smaller, more efficient and long lasting wet electrostatic precipitators by the addition of a central bore in the inner electrode through which a first purge flow is passed and directed into the precipitator chamber, perpendicular to the direction of flow of the gas to be treated through the chamber to urge the particulate into the water curtain. A second, larger, cleaning purge flow is also provided to disturb the water curtain such that it cleans the inner electrode of any deposited particulate.

The device includes two air flow ducts for the air to be cleaned, which air flow ducts are placed along an axial reference line (AA) at a distance (d) from each other in the direction of the axial reference line (AA). Each air flow duct is associated with a capacitor precipitator and an air moving fan. At least one corona electrode is provided in the space between the air flow ducts. At least one counter electrode is located adjacent to the air flow ducts circumference. The air flow direction through the one air flow duct is diametrically opposite the air flow direction through the second air flow duct, and the air to be cleaned is passed into the space between the air flow ducts.
