The present disclosure provides a stable aqueous composition comprising an aqueous component, a hydrophobic complex comprised of a multivalent metal salt complexed with nanocellulose fibers and lignin, with the composition exhibiting a viscosity sufficient to prevent coalescing and settling of the hydrophobic complex in the aqueous component. The composition may be used to coat surfaces of articles to produce a hydrophobic surface. Once applied to the surface, the aqueous coating is spread to form a wet film covering the surface and is then dewatered and dried to produce a dried hydrophobic coating.

Methods, apparatus, and chemical compositions for selectively coating fiber-based food containers

Methods and apparatus for vacuum forming and subsequently applying topical coatings fiber-based food containers. The slurry includes one or more of an embedded moisture barrier, vapor barrier, and oil barrier, and the topical coating comprises one or more of a vapor barrier, a moisture barrier, an oil barrier, and an oxygen barrier. For food containers having deep sidewalls, a spray coating system includes a first nozzle for applying a full cone spray pattern to the bottom surface of the container, and a second nozzle for applying a hollow cone spray pattern to the inside surfaces of the side walls.

METHOD FOR SPRAYING CHEMICAL SOLUTION

A chemical solution spraying method for spraying a chemical solution onto a canvas K1 has a loop shape in a side view while reciprocating two nozzle devices S at the same speed along rail L extending in a width direction of canvas K1 with respect to canvas K1, in which time period Tc during which canvas K1 is in contact with wet paper X is 0.03 seconds or more, time period Tn required for nozzle devices S to each one-way move is 0.5 to 10 minutes, traveling speed Vp of canvas K1 is 500 m/min or more, length K of canvas K1 is 20 to 80 m, a number of times of contact N of any point on a surface of canvas K1 with wet paper X during time period Tn, time period Tn, traveling speed Vp, and length K satisfy a relationship of N=(Tn.Math.Vp)/K, under predetermined conditions.

Methods of controlling a manufacturing line used to produce paper products by reading marks on a paper web

A method of producing a paper product. A paper web is formed on a paper machine. The paper web has a plurality of sections. The web is analyzed to perform at least one of inspecting and identifying properties. The web is marked with a plurality of marks. At least one mark is marked at each of the plurality of sections. Thereafter, the web is wound with a winder to form a parent roll. A paper rating is assigned to each section based upon properties in that section that are identified. The web is unwound from the parent roll on a converting line having a plurality of operational parameters. At least one of the plurality of marks is read with a mark reading unit. The paper rating associated with the at least one mark is obtained. At least one operational parameter of the converting line is changed based upon the rating.
