METHODS FOR DISPENSING AND ADHERING HOT MELT ENTRAINED POLYMERS TO SUBSTRATES

Disclosed are methods for forming and adhering an entrained polymer structure to a substrate. The methods include providing a substrate (114) configured to receive application of a molten entrained polymer (118). A mineral entrained polymer in molten form is applied in a predetermined shape, to a surface of the substrate, to form a solidified entrained polymer structure on the substrate. The entrained polymer includes a monolithic material formed of at least a base polymer (25) and a mineral active agent (30) to absorb excess moisture. The surface of the substrate is compatible with the molten entrained polymer so as to thermally bond with it. In this way, the entrained polymer bonds to the substrate and solidifies upon sufficient cooling of the entrained polymer. The polymer can have a channeling or foaming agent (35), eg polyglycol. To apply the polymer is provided a hot melt dispensing apparatus comprising: a feeder (102) (optionally an extruder or loader) for providing a flow of mineral entrained polymer in molten form; one or more hoses (104), each of which having an internal lumen in fluid communication with an exit (106) of the feeder to receive flow of the mineral entrained polymer in molten form, the lumen terminating at an applicator (110) to which the entrained polymer in molten form is conveyed; the applicator comprising a dispenser (112) for applying the entrained polymer in the predetermined shape to the surface of the substrate. The hose and the dispenser can be heated.

Paint immersing process for insulating paper

The invention provides a paint immersing process for insulating paper, comprising the following steps: step 1, adding insulating paint in a container to blend paint; step 2, drying a base band of the insulating paper; step 3, entirely immersing the processed base band of the insulating paper into the insulating paint; or spraying the insulating paint onto the base band to cover the surface thereof; and step 4, taking out the base band to dry at controlled temperature till solidifying the insulating paint and the base band of the insulating paper. The paint immersing process is simple and practical to operate. The base band can directly cover a conductor as an insulator. As the insulating paint has a certain adhesive property, the structure of conductor with the insulating paper becomes more stable. After the conductor is wound into a coil, free of another immersing process, simplifying production.

COATING COMPOSITIONS AND PROCESSES FOR MAKING THE SAME

The present invention relates to coating compositions, processes for making them, and methods of application of the coating compositions. Further, the present invention relates to a process and apparatus for coating a metal substrate, for example an elongated metal tubular substrate such as a pipe. Most particularly, the coating can be used as an anti-corrosion coating on a pipe for use in oil, gas and water pipeline applications.

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING METAL COMPOUND FILM

A method of manufacturing a metal compound film is a method of manufacturing a metal compound film in which a compound generating liquid containing, as a solute component, a substance that generates a metal compound is applied to a substrate having an opening portion on a surface and sintered to form a metal compound film, including: a pre-wet liquid application step of applying a pre-wet liquid to the surface of the substrate, and filling the opening portion with the pre-wet liquid, the pre-wet liquid having better wettability to the substrate than the compound generating liquid; a compound generating liquid application step of applying the compound generating liquid to stack the compound generating liquid on the pre-wet liquid on the substrate, and diffusing the solute component of the compound generating liquid in the pre-wet liquid; and a sintering step of sintering the applied compound generating liquid to form metal compound film.

Method of ceramic matrix composite repair

A method of treating a ceramic matrix composite article, including selecting an article having a ceramic composition formed by a process comprising an initial melt infiltration at an initial temperature with an initial infiltration material, whereby said article has at least one treatable feature. A portion of the ceramic composite is removed from a region abutting the treatable feature to form a treatment region. A treatment material including a reinforcing fiber is positioned in the treatment region and densified by a first melt infiltration with a first infiltration material including silicon. The first melt infiltration is performed at a first temperature lower than the initial infiltration temperature of the initial melt infiltration.

HIGH SPEED GRANULE DELIVERY SYSTEM AND METHOD
20180333743 · 2018-11-22 ·

A high speed granule delivery system and method is disclosed for dispensing granules in intermittent patterns onto a moving asphalt coated strip in the manufacture of roofing shingles. The system includes a granule hopper and a rotationally indexable pocket wheel in the bottom of the hopper. A series of pockets are formed in the circumference of the wheel and the pockets are separated by raised lands. A seal on the bottom of the hopper seals against the raised lands as the wheel is indexed. In use, the pockets of the pocket wheel drive through and are filled with granules in the bottom of the hopper. As each pocket is indexed beyond the seal, it is exposed to the moving asphalt coated strip below and its granules fall onto the strip to be embedded in the hot tacky asphalt. The speed at which the wheel is indexed is coordinated with the speed of the asphalt coated strip so that granules and strip are moving at about the same forward speed or at a preselected ratio of speeds when the granules fall onto the strip. Well defined patterns of granules are possible at high production rates.
