SELF-DRIVEN WATER COLLECTING SURFACE WITH SUPERHYDROPHOBIC-SUPERHYDROPHILIC STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR PREPARING THE SAME
The present disclosure provides a self-driven water collecting surface having a superhydrophilic-superhydrophobic structure, and a method for preparing the same, belonged to the technical field of water harvesting and superhydrophobic surfaces. The water collecting surface is a superhydrophobic surface with the distributed superhydrophilic region. The superhydrophilic region is a venation channel network structure consisting of hierarchical superhydrophilic channels. In the method, a pulsed laser is firstly adopted to form periodically distributed peak-pit microstructures and nanostructures, which is then modified with a low-surface-energy substance. Then, the low-surface-energy substance layer is removed by a pulsed laser again according to a venation channel network pattern. The laser scanned region is superhydrophilic, while the other regions are superhydrophobic. So that, the self-driven water collecting surface with the superhydrophobic-superhydrophilic structure is obtained.
Highly hydrophobic antifouling coatings for implantable medical devices
Antibacterial coatings and methods of making the antibacterial coatings are described herein. In particular, a method for forming an organocatalyzed polythioether coating is provided in which a first solution including a bis-silylated dithiol and a fluoroarene is prepared. A second solution including an organocatalyst is prepared. The first solution and the second solution are mixed to form a mixed solution. The mixed solution is applied to a substrate, and the substrate is cured.
INKJET PRINTING DEVICE AND INKJET PRINTING METHOD
An inkjet printing device includes an ink container accommodating a clear ink containing a resin and an organic solvent, a discharging head including a nozzle plate, the discharging head being configured to discharge the clear ink onto a substrate to form a printing layer on the substrate, and a heating device configured to heat the substrate, wherein the heating device heats the substrate satisfying the following relationship:
T.sub.matte (degrees C.)>T.sub.gloss (degrees C.), where T.sub.matte represents a temperature of the substrate in a first printing region when the clear ink is attached to the substrate in a first printing mode and T.sub.gloss represents a temperature of the substrate in a second printing region when the clear ink is attached to the substrate in a second printing mode, wherein the receding contact angle of the clear ink against the nozzle plate is 35 degrees or greater.
COATING PROCESS
Methods of making components for a medicinal delivery device are described, in which a base composition comprising a polysulphone is applied to the surface of a component to create a base layer, a primer composition comprising a silane having two or more reactive silane groups separated by an organic linker group is applied to the base layer to create primed surface, and a coating composition comprising an at least partially fluorinated compound is applied to the primed surface. Corresponding coated components and a medicinal delivery device are disclosed.
Fluorocarbon release coating
An organofluorine coating on a major surface of a substrate, wherein the organofluorine coating has a surface composition of about 5 at % to about 15 at % oxygen and about 30 at % to about 50 at % fluorine.
Production of a wide gamut of structural colors using binary mixtures of particles with a potential application in ink jet printing
In one or more embodiments, the present invention provides a method of applying or printing structural colors to a substrate that involves pre-treatment of the substrate surface to prevent absorption of the fluid containing the particles. This allows the fluid to maintain their sessile drop shapes and as the water evaporates, the colloidal particles spontaneously assemble within the confined geometry into semi-ordered structures that interact with light to produce structural color. While the pre-treatment may be done in a variety of ways, application of a, hydrophobic and/or oleophobic coating, like 1H-IH,2H-perfluoro-1-dodecene (C.sub.10F.sub.21—CH═CH.sub.2) (perfluoro) monomer, fluoroalkyls, fluorohydroalkyls, cyclo-fluoroalkyls, fluorobenzen, by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (cold plasma treatment) has been found to be effective, particularly for printing applications. These treated substrates allow production of a wide range of structural colors using binary systems of nanoparticles.

In one aspect, the composition includes a hydrophobic fluorinated solvent, a binder comprising a hydrophobic fluorinated polymer, and hydrophobic fumed silica nanoparticles. Also disclosed is a structure including a substrate coated with the composition, as well as a method for making the composition and a method of coating a substrate with the composition.
MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR PASSIVE RADIATIVE COOLING
A coating including a relatively thin visible-absorptive layer atop a relatively thick non-absorptive, solar-scattering underlayer. The thin top layer enables efficient absorption of appropriate visible wavelengths to show specific colors, and minimizes absorption in the infrared radiation in sunlight due to its relatively small thickness. Meanwhile, the bottom layer maximizes the backscattering of infrared light without absorption to reduce solar heating.
