Disclosed is a novel blending and delivery apparatus comprising: (a) a housing; (b) a first input port configured to receive an organic adsorption ingredient; (c) a second input port configured to receive an organic polymer delivery ingredient; (d) an intake chute configured to receive a non-organic silica carrier ingredient; (e) an auger driveshaft; (f) an auger coupled to the auger driveshaft; (g) a motor coupled to the auger driveshaft; and (h) a discharge opening; wherein the motor rotates the auger to blend the organic adsorption ingredient, the organic polymer delivery ingredient, and the non-organic silica carrier ingredient to form a capping composition layer mixture output via the discharge opening, where the capping composition layer mixture used to make a capping composition layer.
INTEGRATED PAC-BASED CAP DELIVERY SYSTEM, APPARATUS AND COMPOSITIONS
Disclosed are novel solutions in which a preexisting sediment capping system is integrated with improvements such as a cap ingredient processing and delivery apparatus, cap processing method and novel compositional cap product, whereby a hazardous site is remediated by delivering at least one novel cap composition layer over the contaminated subaqueous waterway or terrestrial substrate floor. One embodiment includes a powdered activated carbon (PAC) based cap layer produced by the system and methodology disclosed, the cap layer ingredients comprising predetermined ratio amounts of dry PAC and dry powdered 2-Hydroxypropyl guar gum (HGG) used as a safe and effective delivery ingredient, blended in a cap processing and delivering apparatus with a dewatered sand semi-slurry, the processed resulting capping composition being delivered in a manner such that a novel PAC cap layer is provided to a cap placement area in need of remediation.
CAPPING OF SOFT TAILINGS DEPOSITS
A process for reclaiming soft tailings comprising capping a soft tailings deposit with at least one capping material to form a trafficable surface atop the soft tailings is provided, wherein the capping material comprises water, coarse tailings, sand, petroleum coke, clay-shale overburden, glacial (PG)/Glacio-lacustrine (PL) deposits, geosynthetics or combinations thereof.
LEAKAGE MONITORING SYSTEM FOR GEOMEMBRANES
A leakage monitoring system for geomembranes comprises a power supply unit having two supply electrodes made from a nonmetallic conductive material and respectively connected to a membrane top and a membrane bottom of a primary geomembrane; a plurality of monitoring sensor electrodes made from the nonmetallic conductive material, uniformly arranged below the primary geomembrane and used for acquiring potentials at corresponding positions below the primary geomembrane; a data acquisition unit used for acquiring potential data of each monitoring sensing electrode; and a control and analysis unit used for analyzing the potential data of each monitoring sensor electrode acquired by the data acquisition unit, determining an abnormal potential area below the primary geomembrane to determine a leakage position of the primary geomembrane and giving an alarm. The abnormal potential area below the geomembrane can be determined to determine the specific leakage position of the geomembrane and give the alarm.
HYDROGEN SULFIDE ABSORBING ALTERNATIVE LANDFILL COVER MATERIAL
A reformulated barrier material for use as an alternative cover for landfills made from recycled materials which may comprise construction and/or demolition debris to which is added tire derived rubber particles to inhibit the release of hydrogen sulfide gas through the reformulated barrier material to the surrounding atmosphere from the landfill beneath.
Manufactured composite having synthetic vegetation and impermeable geomembrane, and capping system using same
A manufactured composite comprising synthetic turf and impermeable geomembrane is used in a single-layer capping system as the single layer to provide permanent, impermeable and functional aesthetic cover for land reclamation. During installation of composite pieces at a job site, an edge portion of a tufted section of a second composite piece is overlaid onto an edge untufted section of the first composite piece already laid and anchored over foundation soil to form a reinforced overlapping seam, through which the two composite pieces are physically and permanently joined together. As composite pieces are joined together, the continuity of synthetic grass and the continuity of impermeability are extended and realized over the entire site to form permanent, impermeable and functional aesthetic cover for land reclamation.
Reinforced wall system
A reinforced wall system comprising fill material, a plurality of facing baskets, a plurality of reinforcing members at least partially disposed within the fill material, and an impermeable membrane at least partially encapsulating at least a portion of the fill material and one or more of the reinforcing members. Each of the plurality of reinforcing members is associated with a corresponding facing basket. An outer end of each reinforcing member is above a substantially horizontal portion of the corresponding facing basket. The facing baskets and the reinforcing members are positioned in a plurality of layers, with each layer comprising one facing basket and one corresponding reinforcing member. The impermeable membrane is positioned to span two or more layers of the plurality of layers. At one or more layers of the plurality of layers, a portion of the impermeable membrane is positioned around an outer end of the corresponding reinforcing member.
INTEGRATED PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE MOUNTING SYSTEM FOR USE WITH TUFTED GEOSYNTHETICS
An integrated photovoltaic module mounting system having a friction member for engagement with a portion of a tufted geosynthetic cover and optionally attaching connectors attached to a photovoltaic module and to the tufted geosynthetic cover, for collecting and utilizing solar energy. A method of securing a photovoltaic module to a tufted geosynthetic cover is disclosed.
