Restrained Plastic Pipe Joint and Method of Making Same
20180031157 · 2018-02-01 ·

A gasket for preventing the separation of a pipe joint formed between plastic pipes such as pipes manufactured from PVC. The invention provides a restrained pipe joint including a first pipe including a bell with a spigot entryway and a substantially V-shaped annular groove. The annular groove includes a front radial wall and a rear radial wall and a gasket seated in the annular groove. The gasket includes an inner radial face, an opening defined by the inner radial face and an outer radial face with a front radial section located adjacent to the front radial wall of the annular groove and a rear radial section located adjacent to the rear radial wall of the annular groove. A plurality of restraining segments is at least partially embedded in the gasket, each restraining segment including a toothed inner face and a smooth, sliding front radial face arranged to slide against the front radial wall of the annular groove and facilitate wedging of the segment between the plastic pipes.

PEX CRIMPING TOOL

A power tool includes a motor having an output shaft, an extensible member driven by the motor, a working assembly movable in response to contact with a distal end of the extensible member, a first sensor configured to detect a home position of the extensible member, a second sensor configured to detect rotation of the motor output shaft, and a controller in electrical communication with the first and second sensors. The controller is configured to drive the motor output shaft in a first rotational direction a predetermined number of revolutions counted by the second sensor, thereby displacing the extensible member from the home position. The controller is also configured to drive the motor output shaft in an opposite, second rotational direction to thereby return the extensible member until the home position is detected by the first sensor.

A flexible coupling includes a flexible diaphragm body having a first end and a second end. A member is fixed to the first end of the flexible diaphragm body. A splined member is fixed to the second end of the flexible diaphragm body. The splined member is configured to shift relative to a rotatable member rotatably fixed thereto in response to axial displacement of rotatable members interconnected by the flexible coupling. The ratio of inner diameter to the outer diameter is selected to allow for packaging the flexible coupling in a confined space.

Hydraulic pressing tool and method for controlling a hydraulic pressing tool

A hydraulic pressing tool which is particularly suitable for pressing pipe fittings, and which has a hydraulic pump connected to an electric motor is provided. With the aid of the hydraulic pump, hydraulic fluid is pumped from a tank into a piston chamber to operate the hydraulic piston. The pressure prevailing in the piston chamber is determined by a pressure sensor. When a pressure limit is reached, a solenoid valve is opened by the control device such that the hydraulic fluid flows back out of the piston chamber, through the channels, and into a reservoir.

Separator device

A separator device for removing particles from suspension in a fluid includes a housing having first and second apertures for ingress and egress of fluid into and out of the housing. A first separator chamber is disposed at one end of the housing. A second separator chamber is disposed at the other end of the housing. A central chamber is disposed between the first and second separator chambers. The first and second separator chambers are apertured for ingress and egress of fluid from the central chamber, and each contains obstruction means to slow the flow of fluid within the chamber.

RADIAL PRESS

A radial press is provided with a base structure, a pressing tool accommodated therein and a drive unit. The pressing tool comprises a number of base jaws which are arranged about a press axis and can be moved by the drive unit towards or away from the press axis in a synchronous manner and radially in relation to said press axis, and substantially wedge-shaped press-jaw heads can be exchangeably attached to the base jaws. A plurality of press-jaw head sets is stored in an associated magazine, the press-jaw head sets being for different press diameters. The press-jaw heads have two markings on at least one axial end side directly adjacent to both wedge surfaces. In addition, the two respective opposing markings of two neighboring press-jaw heads are aligned with one another. Markings that are different from one another are provided for different press-jaw head sets.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CRIMPING COUPLING RINGS

An apparatus and method for crimping coupling rings are provided. The apparatus generally has a lower clamp head and an upper clamp head that may be drawn together by a fastener. The lower and upper clamp heads are designed to receive a first portion and a second portion of a coupling ring, respectively. A first and second post holds the clamp heads adjacent to each other. The upper clamp head is secured to the first post such that the upper clamp head may rotate in a generally circular motion to switch the apparatus from a closed to an open configuration, or vice versa. When the apparatus is placed in a closed configuration, the fastener may be engaged to draw the clamp heads together to increase the compressive force imposed on a coupling ring until the coupling ring becomes crimped.

Container assembly and method for making assembly

The present invention is directed to a method of assembling a container including an inner tube contained within an outer tube. The method includes providing an outer tube, providing a spacing element adjacent the open top of the outer tube and inserting an inner tube within the outer tube. The spacing element provides for venting of air from between the inner and outer tubes through the top of the container during assembly thereof.
