Foundry mixture and related methods for casting and cleaning cast metal parts
A foundry mixture for making molds used for molding cast metal parts includes foundry sand, a non-aqueous binder, and a cleaning agent that includes calcium oxide. Residual foundry mixture remaining on the cast part after removal from the mold is removed by electrolytic cleaning of the cast part.
Method and System for Casting Metal
A metal casting system includes a cope mold portion, a drag mold portion, and a mold cavity. The cope mold portion comprises internal cope mold walls. The drag mold portion comprises internal drag mold walls. The cope mold portion and the drag mold portion comprise a molding material comprising a plurality of metal particles.
The mold cavity is representative of a mold pattern, wherein the internal cope mold walls and the internal drag mold walls define, at least in part, the perimeter of the mold cavity.
Cores for die casting
What are described are the use of a refractory coating composition for production of cores for diecasting, a kit for production of cores for use in diecasting, a method of producing cores for use in diecasting, cores for use in diecasting, and the use of such cores in diecasting, especially of lightweight metals.
Compositions comprising silicates and methods of use thereof in sand casting
Compositions useful for foundry processes such as green sand casting are discussed. The compositions may comprise an aggregate, at least one inorganic binding agent, and at least one high aspect ratio silicate. For example, the composition may comprise sand, one or more clay materials serving as a binding agent, and a high aspect ratio silicate chosen from mica, talc, or a combination thereof. The composition may be formed into a green sand mold for use in casting molded articles. Incorporation of the high aspect ratio silicate may help to improve the quality of the casted article.

METHOD FOR THE LAYERED CONSTRUCTION OF MOLDS AND CORES WITH A BINDER CONTAINING WATER GLASS
The present invention relates to methods for the layered construction of molds and cores that include refractory molding base material, a hydrophobized metal oxide as solids and a binder containing at least water glass in the form of an aqueous alkali silicate solution. The methods involve applying a refractory molding base material in layers and selectively print the molds and cores using the binder. The present invention further relates to molds or cores produced in accordance with these methods.
Additive mixture for moulding material mixtures for the production of water-glass-bonded casting moulds and casting cores
A description is given of the use of an additive mixture (A) for combination with a solution or dispersion (B) comprising waterglass, for producing a moulding material mixture for producing articles from the group consisting of foundry moulds and foundry cores; a multi-component binder system comprising (A) an additive mixture and (B) a solution or dispersion comprising waterglass; a moulding material mixture comprising a mould base material (C) and also components (A) and (B) of such a multi-component binder system; a method for producing an article from the group consisting of foundry moulds and foundry cores; articles from the group consisting of foundry moulds and foundry cores; and the use of such an article for metal casting, preferably for light metal casting, more particularly for aluminium casting.
Inorganic binder system
A composition for making cores and a process for metal casting, the composition comprising: a particulate refractory material; an inorganic binder comprising at least one alkali metal silicate; a pozzolanic additive; and a lustrous carbon former. The process includes forming a core from the composition and assembling a mould comprising the core and supplying molten metal.
Anti-Veining Additive for Silica Sand Mold
This invention relates generally to a composition for silica sand cores and molds suitable for in the casting of metals. The sand core composition contains a hinder and a uniformly dispersed anti-veining additive. The mixed metal oxides collapse into a visco-plastic state when the foundry mold/core is heated by the molten metal during casting. A change in state of the MMOx from solid to a visco-plastic at the casting high temperatures provides space and lubricity within the foundry shape sufficient to compensate for the thermally-induced physical expansion of the silica grains. Thereby avoiding the mechanical forces which cause cracks and fissures in the mold or core that produce veins and other surface imperfections associated with the high coefficient of thermal expansion of silica sand.
