Method for using a chair providing uplifting force to the user
10602846 · 2020-03-31 ·

A method for using a back lifting chair designed for treating and preventing back problems by monitoring posture, weight distribution, and sitting duration of an occupant of a seating device, and reducing pressure on a user's spinal disc by adjusting the user's posture. The method allows for an up-lifting motion on the user's torso, reducing the weight and pressure asserted on the lumbar disc, and preventing any further damage to it. The method allows for an upward and downward movement, hence partially or completely lifting the user from the seat, effectively reducing the pressure on the user's spine and back. The upward motion can be initialized by the user, or alternatively, it can be automatically activated by the weight sensor installed on the seat device which detects the prolonged period of sitting.

Active sitting device with central pivot
10602849 · 2020-03-31 ·

A sitting device that encourages the active engagement of the user to remain upright. A seat (14) supported by a central column (12) passes through a pivot joint (16) supported by a base (10). The pivot joint (16) is located substantially at the median of the central column (12) between the seat (14) and the bottom of the base (10). The central column (12) pivots angularly providing the user mobility in his or her hips and lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spine. The central column (12) and seat (14) are brought back to vertical when the sitting device is not in use by means of a counterweight (18) affixed to the bottom of the central column (12). The length of the central column (12) may be adjustable to allow the user to select the desired height of the seat (14). The pivot joint (16) may be a spherical plain bearing, spherical ball bearing, gimbal bearing, spherical thrust bearing, or other device that allows the central column (12) to pivot angularly. The base (10) supporting the pivot joint (16) and central column (12) may contain as few as one leg and as many legs as needed to support the user. The movement of the pivot joint (16) may be inhibited by affixing a collar lock (40). The frictional resistance of the pivot joint (16) may be adjusted with a set screw (50).

An activating platform is disclosed. The platform includes a base that has a lower surface that is curved in a direction transverse to a longitudinal axis. The curved shape of the base provokes a user rock around in a small angle around a middle position, thereby promoting active sitting.

Chair providing lifting force to the user
10595638 · 2020-03-24 ·

A back lifting chair designed for treating and preventing back problems by reducing pressure on a user's spinal disc. The chair provides an up-lifting motion on the user's torso, reducing the weight and pressure asserted on the lumbar disc, and preventing any further damage to it. The chair can be modified from an existing chair. In one configuration, a torso lifting harness which can lift the user's upper torso is connected to the backrest of the chair. The back rest of the chair provides an upward and downward movement, hence partially or completely lifting the user from the seat, effectively reducing the pressure on the user's spine and back. The upward motion can be initialized by the user, or alternatively, it can be automatically activated by the weight sensor installed on the seat area which detects the prolonged period of sitting.
