Method of manufacturing an engine block

A cylinder block for use in an internal combustion engine includes a first and second cylinder bores, a first and second cylinder bore liners, and a Siamese insert. The first and second cylinder bores are disposed adjacent to each other. The first and second cylinder bores each comprise a first cylinder bore wall and a second cylinder bore wall, respectively, and a shared cylinder bore wall. The first cylinder bore liner is disposed on a first inner surface of the first cylinder bore wall and the second cylinder bore liner is disposed on a second inner surface of the second cylinder bore wall. The Siamese insert is disposed in a top portion of the shared cylinder bore wall.

Eco-mold apparatus for manufacturing piston, mold apparatus for manufacturing piston, and piston manufacturing method

The present invention relates to an eco-mold apparatus for manufacturing a piston, a mold apparatus for manufacturing a piston, and a piston manufacturing method, which mold each part of a piston while decreasing the weight of the piston, and the apparatus may comprise: a first eco-mold part which may move forward or backward in a first direction to shape a portion of an eco-part of a piston; a second eco-mold part which may shape-match with the first eco-mold part to mold another portion of the eco-part of the piston; and a piston pickup part which picks up the piston over the second eco-mold part, so that the piston pickup part can separate the piston from the second eco-mold part.

Casting Mold and Process for Manufacturing a Crankcase

A casting mold for a crankcase of an internal combustion engine includes a water jacket core which has a frame core and a cooling duct core. A land core is provided which is designed and positioned in such a way as to form a cooling duct in an inter-cylinder land of a crankcase. The land core is retained in the frame core and is, or can be, centered using a top core.

ALUMINUM FOAM CORE PISTON WITH COAXIAL LASER BONDED AEROGEL/CERAMIC HEAD

A method of forming an insulated composite piston head may include: creating a preformed aluminum or aluminum alloy foam core; suspending the preformed foam core in a piston head mold; forming a molded piston head and removing it from the mold; depositing an insulating material on at least one surface of the molded piston head; performing at least one machining operation on the molded piston head so it conforms to a predetermined specification for the insulated composite piston head; and optionally applying a lubricious piston coating to at least a portion of the outer surface of the insulated composite piston head.

Casting device and casting method

A casting device and casting method are provided for producing components, in particular cylinder heads. The device includes a reusable steel upper core, which can be lifted off from the component to be produced and which has a movable displacing element. The displacement element can be pressed into the component to be produced for dense feeding. In a method for producing a cylinder head by casting, wherein the steel upper core is used as a substitution for a sand cover core, for dense feeding the displacing element is pressed into the melt that forms the cylinder head in the solidified state.
