A mold assembly for use in forming a component having an outer wall of a predetermined thickness is provided. The mold assembly includes a mold that includes an interior wall that defines a mold cavity within the mold. The mold assembly also includes a jacketed core positioned with respect to the mold. The jacketed core includes a jacket that includes an outer wall. The jacketed core also includes a core positioned interiorly of the jacket outer wall. The jacket separates a perimeter of the core from the mold interior wall by the predetermined thickness, such that the outer wall is formable between the perimeter and the interior wall.

Castings and manufacture methods

A method for casting an article comprises a first region and a second region. The method comprises casting an alloy in a shell, the shell having a casting core protruding from a first metal piece; and deshelling and decoring to remove the shell and core and leave the first region formed by the first piece and the second region formed by the casted alloy.

The invention provides a device (200, 300, 400) for heating a continuous flow fluid. Said device (200, 300, 400) consists of a steel conduit (3, 3′, 3″) through which the fluid to be heated flows and of at least one sheathed resistor (2, 2c, 2d, 2e, 2f) that is parallel to the steel conduit (3, 3′, 3″) and that is in thermal contact therewith. The steel conduit (3, 3′, 3″) and the at least one heating element (2, 2c, 2d, 2e, 2f) are incorporated in a die-casting element made of an aluminium alloy.

Casting product with tubular flow passages, method of casting the same product, and cast-in pipe insert unit

A method of casting a casting product having tubular flow passages includes: attaching a cast-in pipe insert, having outer and inner fixing members to which both ends of pipes are coupled, respectively, to a fixed mold; assembling a movable mold with the fixed mold; injecting a molten metal into a cavity defined inside the fixed and movable molds; ejecting a casting product from the assembled molds after injecting the molten metal; and removing the outer and inner fixing members from the casting product.

Core pin for preventing molten metal from flowing into pipe and casting device using the same

A core pin is provided that prevents a molten metal from flowing into a pipe and a casting device using the same is also provided. The core pin specifically contacts a first end of the pipe inserted into a mold to close the end of the pipe, to thus prevent the molten metal from flowing into the pipe.

Ductile alloys for sealing modular component interfaces

A vane assembly (10) having: an airfoil (12) and a shroud (14) held together without metallurgical bonding there between; a channel (22) disposed circumferentially about the airfoil (12), between the airfoil (12) and the shroud (14); and a seal (20) disposed in the channel (22), wherein during operation of a turbine engine having the vane assembly (10) the seal (20) has a sufficient ductility such that a force generated on the seal (20) resulting from relative movement of the airfoil (12) and the shroud (14) is sufficient to plastically deform the seal (20).

Multicore and method of manufacturing hollow product using multicore

Provided are a multicore and a method of manufacturing a hollow product using the multicore enabling a hollow of a molded product to be molded more easily by casting and a quality problem to be addressed. The multicore includes a first core, being made of a water-insoluble material, having a hollow formed in the first core and, having an opening formed at both ends of the first core so that the hollow is exposed to the outside through the opening, a second core, being made of a water-soluble material and disposed inside the hollow, and a coating layer, being configured to surround the first core to prevent the first core and the second core from being exposed to an outside. Further, the first core includes a plurality of spaces to allow a fluid supplied to an interior of the first core to flow toward the second core.
