Cold plate design features amenable for additive manufacturing powder removal
A method of manufacturing a cold plate includes forming a fluid circuit on a build surface in a layer-by-layer fashion from a build material. The fluid circuit includes a plurality of peripheral walls, each of the plurality of peripheral walls at least partially defining a primary channel, a longitudinally one of the peripheral walls being formed to include apertures configured to permit excess build material to pass therethrough. A central wall of the fluid circuit at least partially defines the primary channel and a plurality of secondary channels fluidly connected to the primary channel. The method further includes removing excess build material through the apertures.
Three-dimensional-printed vessel for wettability assessment of fracturing proppants
Systems, methods, and apparatus for a three-dimensional (3D)-printed vessel for wettability assessment of fracturing proppants are disclosed. The vessel includes a base component including a threaded cylindrical portion extending outward from a first side of the base component. The cylindrical portion has a particular thread profile. The base component defines a cavity sized to contain a proppant sample. A cap is configured to be screwed onto the threaded cylindrical portion after the proppant sample is injected into the cavity. A surface of the cap is shaped to flatten a proppant surface of the proppant sample. The cap is threaded with the particular thread profile. A pin is configured to be partially screwed onto a second side of the base component before the proppant sample is injected into the cavity. The second side is opposite to the first side. Other embodiments may be described or claimed.
MONOLITHIC ADDITIVELY MANUFACTURED PUMP INLET HOUSING AND FILTER
A method of manufacturing a pump inlet housing and filter for a pump assembly, wherein the pump inlet housing and filter are monolithic, the method has the steps of: defining a pump inlet housing as a housing tubular shape with an inlet aperture boundary at a housing top end, and an outlet aperture boundary at a housing bottom end; defining a lattice filter between the inlet and outlet aperture boundaries; and performing an additive manufacturing (AM) process to additively manufacture the pump inlet housing and the lattice filter such that the lattice filter is integral with the pump inlet housing.
MULTIPLE-VENTURI NOZZLE, SYSTEM, METHOD OF MANUFACTURE AND METHOD OF USE
The instant invention includes a multiple-Venturi nozzle and a system, method of manufacture and method of using same. The instant multiple-Venturi nozzle has a generally cylindrical body with a generally flat bottom surface and a generally flat distal outer surface and a generally arcuate vertical surface parallel to the bottom and outer surfaces. The instant multiple-Venturi nozzle further includes a plurality of chokes generally perpendicular to the bottom and outer surfaces, each of said chokes extending through the body and having a choke inlet and a choke outlet. The instant multiple-Venturi nozzle further includes a manifold extending from the outer surface partially into the body and a plurality of manifold channels connecting the manifold to each choke, each of said manifold channels being generally perpendicular to a corresponding choke, having a manifold outlet and a distal manifold inlet and being offset in a helical distribution from other manifold outlets corresponding to the same choke.
HYBRID MANUFACTURING PROCESS FOR HEAT EXCHANGER
A heat exchanger includes a base and a plurality of substantially parallel and substantially vertical walls spaced apart and integrally formed with the base via additive manufacturing. The heat exchanger also includes at least one parting sheet not integrally formed with the plurality of walls, but being attached to the plurality of walls, defining flow channels between the walls, the base, and the at least one parting sheet.
Method for producing a tubular body with reduced internal stress by using 3D printing, and a tubular body with reduced internal stress
A method for producing a tubular body with reduced internal stress uses 3D printing. The tubular body has an outer wall with a stiffening structure extending along at least part of the outer wall. The method sets a printing plane for 3D printing with a 3D printer, and prints a tubular body layer in the printing plane with the 3D printer. The tubular body layer has an outer wall layer and a stiffening structure layer extending in the printing plane along a periphery of the outer wall layer. The stiffening structure layer has at least two portions spaced apart from one another. The method produces an outer wall with a stiffening structure for a tubular body with reduced internal stress.
HEAT EXCHANGER WITH BUILD POWDER IN BARRIER CHANNELS
An additively manufactured heat exchanger configured to transfer heat between a first fluid and a second fluid includes a first channel with a first wall configured to port flow of a first fluid and a second channel with a second wall configured to port flow of a second fluid. The heat exchanger also includes a barrier channel containing unprocessed build powder provided by the additive manufacturing process and is located between the first wall and the second wall. The barrier channel is configured to prevent mixing of the first fluid and the second fluid when one of the first wall and the second wall ruptures.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING ADDITIVELY MANUFACTURED OBJECTS
A system and method are disclosed for additively manufacturing an object having an internal chase. The system and method include evaluating a print design file that defines physical properties of the object to be printed with the additive manufacturing process to determine whether the object can be printed with a removable plug located inside the internal chase, and if so, modifying the print design file to include the removable plug. The object is then printed with the removable plug, which is removed prior to removing the support material.
