Additive metal manufacturing process
Three dimensional “green” parts are formed by combining sheet layers comprising metal powder bound together by a polymer. The “green” parts are then sintered to drive off the polymer and consolidate the metal powder to produce a monolithic metal part. Particularly, the invention is directed to processes for forming and stacking the shaped sheet layers that are readily automated and preserve the high value powder metal and polymer sheet trim scrap for reuse resulting in an additive overall process with little material waste. The invention includes processes in which “green” elements formed by methods such as three dimensional printing are incorporated into the “green” stack and become an integral part of the final sintered part. It further includes processes in which “green” sheet layers are shaped by methods such as hot bending or vacuum forming to provide three dimensional part features.

COPPER NANOWIRES AND THEIR USE IN PLASTICS TO IMPROVE THERMAL AND ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY
The present disclosure provides a copper nanowire composition. The a copper nanowire composition includes copper nanowire having associated alkylamine ligands with the structure HNR.sup.1R.sup.2. where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently hydrogen, alkyl or arylalkyl groups. The copper nanowire has an aspect ratio of at least 10. The associated alkylamine ligand is NR.sup.1R.sup.2 which contains at least 12 carbon atoms.
Multi-Material Electromagnetic Shielding and Methods for the Additive Manufacturing Thereof
Systems and methods of additively manufacturing multi-material electromagnetic shields are described. Additive manufacturing processes use co-deposition to incorporate multiple materials and/or microstructures selected to achieve specified shield magnetic properties. Geometrically complex shields can be manufactured with alternating shielding materials optimized for the end use application. The microstructures of the printed shields can be tuned by optimizing the print parameters.
Multi-Material Electromagnetic Shielding and Methods for the Additive Manufacturing Thereof
Systems and methods of additively manufacturing multi-material electromagnetic shields are described. Additive manufacturing processes use co-deposition to incorporate multiple materials and/or microstructures selected to achieve specified shield magnetic properties. Geometrically complex shields can be manufactured with alternating shielding materials optimized for the end use application. An example multi-metallic ram includes a first portion formed from a first metal alloy, a second portion formed from a second metal alloy, and a diffusion bond at an interface between the first metal alloy and the second metal alloy that joins the first metal alloy to the second metal alloy within the multi-metallic ram.

Method of forming a thermal barrier coating system with engineered surface roughness
A method of manufacturing a substrate (16) with a ceramic thermal barrier coating (28, 32). The interface between layers of the coating contains an engineered surface roughness (12, 24) to enhance the mechanical integrity of the bond there between. The surface roughness is formed in a surface of a mold (10,20) and is infused by a subsequently cast layer of material (16, 28). The substrate may be partially sintered (76) prior to application of the coating layer(s) and the coated substrate and coating layer(s) may be co-sintered to form a fully coherent strain-free interlayer.
Method of forming a thermal barrier coating system with engineered surface roughness
A method of manufacturing a substrate (16) with a ceramic thermal barrier coating (28, 32). The interface between layers of the coating contains an engineered surface roughness (12, 24) to enhance the mechanical integrity of the bond there between. Method of producing R-T-B sintered magnet
An application step of applying an adhesive agent to an application area of a surface of a sintered R-T-B based magnet work, an adhesion step of allowing a particle size-adjusted powder that is composed of a powder of an alloy or a compound of a Pr—Ga alloy which is at least one of Dy and Tb to the application area of the surface of the sintered R-T-B based magnet work, and a diffusing step of heating it at a temperature which is equal to or lower than a sintering temperature of the sintered R-T-B based magnet work to allow the Pr—Ga alloy contained in the particle size-adjusted powder to diffuse from the surface into the interior of the sintered R-T-B based magnet work are included. The particle size of the particle size-adjusted powder is set so that, when powder particles composing the particle size-adjusted powder are placed on the entire surface of the sintered R-T-B based magnet work to form a particle layer which is not less than one layer and not more than three layers, the amount of Ga contained in the particle size-adjusted powder is in a range from 0.10 to 1.0% with respect to the sintered R-T-B based magnet work by mass ratio.
