The print head may include an outlet configured to discharge a material, and a compacting device mounted to trail behind the outlet during movement of the print head in a normal direction. The print head may also include a spring configured to bias the compacting device against the material and to allow movement of the compacting device in a direction parallel with a discharge direction of the material through the outlet, and a locker configured to selectively lock a position of the compacting device relative to the outlet.
Aerial robot positioning system utilizing a light beam measurement device
A light-based measurement system is capable of directing a light beam to a cooperative target used in conjunction with an aerial robot to accurately control the position of the end effector within a large volume working environment defined by a single coordinate system. By measuring the end effector while the device is in operation, the aerial robot control system can be adjusted in real time to correct for errors that are introduced through the design of the robot itself providing accuracy in the tens or hundreds of micron range. A separate coordination computer runs control software that communicates with both the laser tracker and the aerial robot. An action plan file is loaded by the software that defines the coordinate system of the working volume, the locations where actions need to be performed by the aerial robot, and the actions to be taken.
ELECTRON BEAM LAYER MANUFACTURING
A process and apparatus for free form fabrication of a three-dimensional work piece comprising (a) feeding raw material in a solid state to a first predetermined location: (b) depositing the raw material onto a substrate as a molten pool deposit under a first processing condition; (C) monitoring the molten pool deposit for a preselected condition; (d) comparing information about the preselected condition of the monitored molten pool deposit with a predetermined desired value for the preselected condition of the monitored molten pool deposit; (e) solidifying the molten pool deposit; (f) automatically altering the first processing condition to a different processing condition based upon information obtained from the comparing step (d); and repeating steps (a) through (f) at one or more second locations for building up layer by layer a three-dimensional work piece. The apparatus is characterized by a detector that monitors a preselected condition of the deposited material and a closed loop electronic control device for controlling operation of one or more components of the apparatus in response to a detected condition by the detector.
Machine tool
A machine tool arranged to deliver an energy source through a processing head onto a work-piece, wherein; the machine-tool has a clamping mechanism arranged to temporarily receive the processing-head, or another machining or processing-head, to process a work-piece; the processing-head comprising one or more guiding mechanisms arranged to direct the energy source onto a work-piece and a processing-head docking-manifold arranged to have connected thereto one or more media to be, in use, supplied to the processing-head to facilitate processing of the work-piece; wherein the processing-head docking-manifold allows the one or more media to be supplied to the processing-head when the processing-head is connected to the clamping mechanism; and wherein the machine-tool also comprises at least one mechanism arranged to move a supply docking-manifold into and/or out of connection with the processing-head docking-manifold such that when the two manifolds are connected the or each media is supplied to the processing head.
Multiple sequential linear powder dispensers for additive manufacturing
An additive manufacturing system includes a platen to support an object to be fabricated, a dispenser assembly positioned above the platen, and an energy source configured to selectively fuse a layer of powder. The dispenser assembly includes a first dispenser, a second dispenser, and a drive system. The first dispenser delivers a first powder in a first linear region that extends along a first axis, and the second dispenser delivers a second powder in a second linear region that extends parallel to the first linear region and is offset from the first linear region along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. The drive system a drive system moves the support with the first dispenser and second dispenser together along the second axis.
Method of forming an object using 3D printing
A 3D printer includes a build plate providing a surface on which an object is printed. Prior to printing, a sheet is fixed to the surface of the build plate. The sheet is composed of a material that adheres to a binder component of the feedstock used to print the object. During printing, the first layer of the printed object forms a bond with the sheet, which secures the location of the first layer and resists movement of the object during printing. Following printing and the object gaining sufficient rigidity, the object and sheet can be removed together from the printer. The sheet may then be peeled from the object, and the object can undergo debinding and/or sintering to create a finished object.
Conformal manufacturing device and method for complex curved-surface electronic system
The invention belongs to a related field of electronic manufacturing technology, and particularly relates to a conformal manufacturing device and a method for a complex curved-surface electronic system, the system includes a support platform and a six-degree-of-freedom spherical motor linkage platform, a 3D measurement module, a laser lift-off module, a curved-surface transfer printing module and a conformal jet printing module respectively mounted on the support platform and independently controllable, and specific structures and work modes of these key components are improved. The invention further discloses a corresponding manufacturing method. Through the invention, multiple process flows required in conformal manufacturing process of the complex curved-surface electronic system are effectively integrated into an integrated device, so as to realize conformal hybrid manufacturing of the rigid/flexible curved-surface electronic system with arbitrary area, and the invention has advantages of high precision, high efficiency and high automation, which greatly broadens the application scope of the curved-surface electronic manufacturing technology.
