PASSIVE MATTRESS SPINNER AND METHODS
20200352346 · 2020-11-12 ·

A system is disclosed for facilitating rotation of a mattress in a horizontal plane carried by a box spring or a platform. In order to facilitate rotation, slick surfaces between the mattress and the box spring or platform are selectively placed in engagement with each other, in one embodiment of the invention. The slick surfaces may be provided by two (2) separate covers; one cover for the mattress and one cover for the box spring, platform or bed skirt. One cover is provided with a slick and non-slick surface. The other cover may be the same as the first cover or may have slick surfaces on two sides. In an alternate embodiment of the invention, one of the covers may be provided as a protective cover that encapsulates the entire mattress. In another alternate embodiment, one cover may be provided that cooperates with a slick surface that is integrally provided on one or the other of the mattress or box spring or platform. In yet another alternate embodiment of the invention, slick surfaces may be provided on both the mattress and the box spring or platform. In this embodiment, in order to prevent movement of the mattress with respect to the box spring or platform, the mattress is secured relative to the box spring or platform by removable fasteners in a normal mode of operation.

Levitation devices are disclosed for use with beds. In one embodiment, the levitation device is configured to facilitate rotation of a mattress with respect to a box spring. In another embodiment, the levitation device is configured to facilitate making a bed which allows sheets and blankets to be tucked between the mattress and the box spring without the need to lift the mattress. In a third embodiment, the levitation device functions as a hybrid device and can be used for making a bed or rotating a mattress.

Mattress spacer system and methods of using the same

A passive mattress spacer pad provides an intermediate layer of material which sits between the bottom of the mattress and the underlying mattress support. In some embodiments, the spacer may have peripheral length and width dimensions that are roughly between about 1 and 18 inches smaller than the size of the mattress and have a thickness of between about inch and about 4 inches. In some embodiments, the spacer pad is independent, and in others, it is integrally formed with the support or the mattress. The spacer provides a measure of lift or elevation to the center of the mattress while leaving some space or gap around the peripheral edges where it is easier for the bed maker to slide their hands and the bed linens beneath the mattress edge without having to lift the mattress entirely.

Gather-fitted bedding placement apparatus and method
10820713 · 2020-11-03 ·

A gather-fitted bedding placement apparatus and method for easy installation and removal, and prevention of slippage during use, of gather-fitted bedding upon a bed mattress. The apparatus has a semi-flexible friction-calibrated sheet-material unit of a size corresponding to the standard minimum depth of the bed mattress, a bottom lip formed along the bottom edge of the semi-flexible friction-calibrated sheet-material unit, at least one curve-enabling notch in the central portion of the bottom lip, to enable bending of the semi-flexible friction-calibrated sheet-material unit to conform to the corner of the mattress, a bottom-lip curved-corner portion formed by such bending, and at least one tab cutout through the semi-flexible friction-calibrated sheet-material unit. The method is practiced by using a gather-fitted bedding placement apparatus at each corner of the mattress, placing the bent semi-flexible friction-calibrated sheet-material unit underneath and inside of a corner of the gather-fitted bedding, with the gathered edge of the bedding wrapped around the bottom lip and the bottom-lip curved-corner portion, with the gathered edge resting on the top or inner surface of the bottom lip and the bottom-lip curved-corner portion, manually pushing the semi-flexible friction-calibrated sheet-material unit and the fitted bedding downward over the bed mattress for installation, or manually pulling upward for removal, using the tab cutouts or the bottom lip as gripping points, where the low-friction inner face of the semi-flexible friction-calibrated sheet-material unit provides smooth downward and upward pushing for installation and removal, and the bottom lip and the bottom-lip curved-corner portion hold the gather-fitted bedding in place underneath the bed mattress during the period between installation and removal.

A mattress mount that has a paddle, a riser and an air conduit clamp. The riser spaces the paddle apart from the air conduit clamp at different elevations. A compressible, resilient cushion is secured to a flat surface of the paddle. The paddle with cushion is positioned underneath a mattress to compress the cushion. The paddle extends from the riser to terminate at to free end. The air conduit claim extends outwardly from the riser to terminate at free ends. The paddle and the air conduit clamp extend at different elevations and in opposite directions from the riser to terminate at their respective free ends.
