A cutting tool made of a cemented carbide substrate of WC, a metallic binder phase and gamma phase is provided. The cemented carbide has a well distributed gamma phase and a reduced amount of abnormal WC grains. The cutting tool has a more predicted tool life and an increased resistance against plastic deformation.

The present disclosure provides a multilayer coated cutting material having increased wear resistance at high temperatures, a method for manufacturing the same, and a cutting tool insert for mechanical machining including the same. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the multilayer coated cutting material includes a cemented carbide, cermet, ceramic, a cubic crystal boron nitride-based material or a hard alloy body of high-speed steel, and a cutting layer positioned on the base material and configured in multiple layers.
MULTI-LAYER COATED CUTTING MATERIAL, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND CUTTING TOOL INSERT FOR MECHANICAL MACHINING INCLUDING THE SAME
The present disclosure provides a multilayer coated cutting material having increased wear resistance at high temperatures, a method for manufacturing the same, and a cutting tool insert for mechanical machining including the same. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the multilayer coated cutting material includes a cemented carbide, cermet, ceramic, a cubic crystal boron nitride-based material or a hard alloy body of high-speed steel, and a cutting layer positioned on the base material and configured in multiple layers.
SURFACE-COATED CUTTING TOOL IN WHICH HARD COATING LAYER EXHIBITS EXCELLENT CHIPPING RESISTANCE
Provided is a coated tool in which a hard coating layer has excellent hardness and toughness and exhibits chipping resistance and defect resistance during long-term use. The hard coating layer includes at least a layer of a complex nitride or complex carbonitride expressed by the composition formula: (Ti.sub.1-x-yAl.sub.xMe.sub.y) (C.sub.zN.sub.1-x) (here, Me is one element selected from among Si, Zr, B, V, and Cr), an average amount Xavg of Al, an average amount Yavg of Me, and an average amount Zavg of C satisfy 0.60≦Xavg, 0.005≦Yavg≦0.10, 0≦Zavg≦0.005, and 0.605≦Xavg+Yavg≦0.95, crystal grains having a cubic structure are present in crystal grains constituting the layer of a complex nitride or complex carbonitride, and in the crystal grains having a cubic structure, a predetermined periodic concentration variation of Ti, Al, and Me is present, whereby the problems are solved.
Surface-coated cutting tool
A surface-coated cutting tool includes a lower layer including a Ti compound layer, an intermediate layer including an α-Al.sub.2O.sub.3 layer, and an upper layer including a Zr-containing α-Al.sub.2O.sub.3 layer. The outermost layer of the lower layer contains 0.5 to 3 at % of oxygen. The frequencies of inclination angles between a normal line to a (0001) plane of Al.sub.2O.sub.3 grains of the intermediate layer and a normal line to a surface of a tool body have a highest peak in an inclination angle division of 0 to 10°. The ratio of the frequencies is 50 to 70%. The frequencies between the normal line to the (0001) plane of Al.sub.2O.sub.3 grains of the entirety of the intermediate and the upper layers and the normal line to the tool body surface have a highest peak in an inclination angle division of 0 to 10°. The ratio of the frequencies is 75% or more.
Coated Cutting Tool Insert with MT-CVD TiCN on TiAI(C,N)
A coated cutting tool includes a substrate of cemented carbide, cermet, ceramics, steel or cubic boron nitride, a multi-layered wear resistant coating and at least two refractory coating layers deposited. The at least two refractory coating layers include a first coating layer and a second coating layer deposited on top of each other. The first coating layer is titanium aluminium nitride or carbonitride Ti.sub.1-uAl.sub.uC.sub.vN.sub.w, with 0.2≦u≦1.0, 0≦v≦0.25 and 0.7≦w≦1.15 deposited by CVD. The second coating layer is titanium carbonitride Ti.sub.xC.sub.yN.sub.1-y, with 0.85≦x≦1.1 and 0.4≦y≦0.85, and is deposited on top of the first coating layer by MT-CVD. The second Ti.sub.xC.sub.yN.sub.1-y coating layer has a columnar grain morphology and the overall fiber texture of the Ti.sub.xC.sub.yN.sub.1-y coating layer is characterized by a texture coefficient TC (1 1 1)>2.
COATED TOOL
A coated tool is, for example, a cutting tool which is provided with a base material and a coating layer located on the base material, wherein a cutting edge and a flank surface are located on the coating layer, the coating layer has a portion in which at least a titanium carbonitride layer and an aluminum oxide layer having an a-type crystal structure are laminated in this order, and, with regard to a texture coefficient (Tc) (hkl) which is calculated on a basis of a peak of the aluminum oxide layer analyzed by an X-ray diffraction analysis, a texture coefficient (Tc1) (146) as measured from a surface side of the aluminum oxide layer in the flank surface is 1 or more.
CUTTING TOOL
Provided is a cutting tool including a base material and a coating layer provided on the base material, the coating layer including a titanium carbonitride layer provided on the base material, an intermediate layer provided on the titanium carbonitride layer in contact therewith, and an alumina layer provided on the intermediate layer in contact therewith, the intermediate layer being composed of a compound made of titanium, carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen, the intermediate layer having a thickness of more than 1 μm, when P.sub.O1 atomic % represents an atomic ratio of the oxygen in an interface between the intermediate layer and the alumina layer, and P.sub.O2 atomic % represents an atomic ratio of the oxygen at a point A away from the interface by 1 μm on a side of the intermediate layer, a ratio P.sub.O1/P.sub.O2 of the P.sub.O1 to the P.sub.O2 being more than or equal to 1.03.
CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool comprises a substrate and a coating that coats the substrate, the coating including an α-alumina layer provided on the substrate, the α-alumina layer including crystal grains of α-alumina, the α-alumina layer including a lower portion and an upper portion, the upper portion being occupied in area at a ratio of 50% or more by crystal grains of α-alumina having a (006) plane with a normal thereto having a direction within ±15° with respect to a direction of the normal to the second interface, the lower portion being occupied in area at a ratio of 50% or more by crystal grains of α-alumina having a (110) plane with a normal thereto having a direction within ±15° with respect to the direction of the normal to the second interface, the α-alumina layer having a thickness of 3 μm or more and 20 μm or less.
SURFACE-COATED CUTTING TOOL HAVING EXCELLENT CHIP RESISTANCE
A surface-coated cutting tool has a hard coating layer and a tool body, which is coated with a lower layer including a TiCN layer having at least an NaCl type face-centered cubic crystal structure and an upper layer formed of a TiAlCN layer having a single phase crystal structure of NaCl type face-centered cubic crystals or a mixed phase crystal structure of NaCl type face-centered cubic crystals and hexagonal crystals. The tool body is further coated with an outermost surface layer including an Al.sub.2O.sub.3 layer, when the layer of a complex nitride or complex carbonitride of Ti and Al is expressed by the composition formula: (Ti.sub.1-xAl.sub.x)(C.sub.yN.sub.1-y), the average amount Xave of Al in Ti and Al and the average amount Yave of C in C and N (both Xave and Yave are atomic ratios) respectively satisfy 0.60≦Xave≦0.95 and 0≦Yave≦0.005.
