Faceted lobular threads
A faceted lobular threaded component and methods for making and/or installing the same. A faceted lobular threaded component may include a head, and a shank extending along a longitudinal axis away from the head. The component may also include an external faceted lobular thread in the shank extending around the longitudinal axis. The external faceted lobular thread may include at least four facets per thread revolution, and at least four lobes per thread revolution circumferentially interspersed between the at least four facets and established by the at least four facets.
ROTARY CUTTING TOOL WITH TUNABLE VIBRATION ABSORBER ASSEMBLY FOR SUPPRESSING TORSIONAL VIBRATION
A rotary cutting tool includes a tool body including a chip flute portion having a plurality of helical chip flutes separated by lobes. In one aspect, a tunable vibration absorber assembly is disposed within a cavity formed in the chip flute portion. In another aspect, the tunable vibration absorber assembly is disposed within a cavity of a replaceable cutting head. In each aspect, the tunable vibration absorber assembly includes at least two one or more tunable absorber masses, a resilient material between the one or more absorber masses and the cavity, and one or more connecting members for preventing relative angular displacement of the one or more tunable absorber masses. The at least two one or more tunable absorber masses are suspended only by the resilient material, thereby enabling the tunable vibration absorber assembly to be tuned to a desired frequency for suppressing torsional vibration of the rotary cutting tool during a cutting operation.
HOLE SAW MANDREL ASSEMBLY
A quick connect/disconnect mechanism for a rotary bit having a central mounting hole at a proximal end includes a shaft extending axially and having a proximal end adapted to be releasably secured in a rotary tool and a distal end having a spud extending distally and axially therefrom. A plurality of retainer arms are arrayed about the axis and extending distally, each retainer arm including a catch extending radially outwardly from a distal end thereof. A release sleeve extends about the shaft adjacent to said distal end, the release sleeve having engagement keys to impinge on the proximal ends of the retainer arms, the sleeve being rotatable from a first position in which the engagement keys hold the retainer arms to secure the rotary bit to a second position in which the retainer arms rotate to release the rotary bit.
Fastener extraction ratchet bit system
A fastener extraction ratchet bit system for facilitating extraction of stripped fasteners by permitting attachment of extraction bits to an air drive ratchet. The system includes a driving tool and a fitting coupled to and extending from the driving tool. A drill socket is coupled to a drill bit wherein the drill bit is selectively couplable to the fitting such that the driving tool provides a driving force to the drill bit. An extraction socket is coupled to an extraction bit wherein the extraction bit is also selectively couplable to the fitting such that the driving tool provides the driving force to the extraction bit.
Quick release hole saw
A hole saw assembly having a drive shaft, drive disk and hole saw blade. The drive disk has a plurality of radially extending projections that engage with engagement slots in the side of the hole saw blade.
CUTTING TOOL KEY, CUTTING HEAD KEY ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF ATTACHING CUTTING HEAD TO TOOL HOLDER
A cutting tool key includes a handle component, for actuating rotation of the cutting tool key and a locking member that is attached to the handle component. The locking member includes a head receptacle portion at a rear end thereof and a sleeve member attached to the locking member. The sleeve member is elastically flexible and circumferentially surrounds the head receptacle portion. A cutting head key assembly includes a cutting head that is located at the head receptacle portion and elastically clamped thereat by the sleeve member. The cutting head key is rotated to releasably attach the cutting head to the tool holder.
METHOD FOR RELOADING A SINGLE-FLUTE DRILL, AND SINGLE-FLUTE DRILL
A method for reloading a single-flute drill comprising a shaft made of a hard metal and a drill head that is connected to the shaft and is made of a hard metal, is characterized by the following steps: removing a worn drill head from the shaft; integrally bonding a new drill head to the shaft.
Rotating tool, in particular drill, as well as a method for manufacturing a rotating tool of this type
The rotating tool, in particular a drill, includes a fluted cutting shank made of a resistant material, in particular carbide, extending in an axial direction along a rotational axis. Connecting to the cutting shank in the axial direction is an intermediate shank made of a material of greater elasticity in comparison the resistant material, in particular of tool steel. The intermediate shank includes an insertable cutting insert that may be exchanged. The cutting shank is preferably a cutting shank recycled from a used solid carbide drill.
Drilling tool assembly including a step drill bit
A drilling tool includes a step drill bit and an arbor assembly. The arbor assembly includes a shank having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a longitudinal axis extending through the first and second ends. The first end of the shank is removably coupled to the step drill bit, and the second end of the shank is configured to be coupled to a power tool. The arbor assembly includes a sleeve moveable along the shank parallel to the longitudinal axis, and a ball bearing disposed on the sleeve and moveable with the sleeve. The ball bearing engages the step drill bit to releasably secure the step drill bit to the shank. When the sleeve moves toward the second end of the shank, the ball bearing moves radially inward and disengages the step drill bit, allowing removal of the step drill bit from the shank.
Side-activated modular drill
A rotary cutting tool with a shank and an interchangeable cutting tip, wherein the shank includes a pocket which receives the interchangeable cutting tip via an interference fit. The pocket includes two centering wall portions which, when viewed along a central longitudinal axis, are oriented at a first angle with respect to one another, the first angle being greater than zero. The interchangeable cutting tip is axially displaceable between: an initial position, assumed upon being received in the pocket of the shank; a clamped position, wherein the interchangeable cutting tip is fixedly held with respect to the shank; and a bump-off position, wherein the interchangeable cutting tip is not fixedly held. A holding element holds the interchangeable cutting tip in the clamped position, and a bump-off element displaces the interchangeable cutting tip between the clamped position and the bump-off position. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.
