The chuck mechanism includes: a chuck body 10; an axially movable plunger 40 disposed inside the chuck body; and a master jaw 20 radially movable by wedge action caused by fitting the plunger in the master jaw 20. A guide groove 11 that radially guides the master jaw and has a T-shaped cross section is formed in the chuck body. The master jaw has a narrow portion 23 and a wide portion 24 that form a T-shaped cross section. A wedge 21 fitted in a wedge groove 41 of the plunger is formed radially inside the wide portion. The end face 21a of the wedge in the width direction is positioned outward in the width direction with respect to the end face 23a of the narrow portion in the width direction.

A boring tool has a slider member connected to a cutting insert seat, the slider member is arranged movably inside a tool body of the boring tool along a path extending transversely to a rotation axis of the boring tool for adjusting the distance of the of the cutting insert seat in relation to the rotation axis. A wedge-shaped clamping member is connected to a drive unit and arranged inside the tool body. The wedge-shaped clamping member is in contact with the slider member for clamping the slider member into a locked position, in which locked position, the wedge-shaped clamping member is pre-loaded to passively lock the slider member. The drive unit is controllable such that the wedge-shaped clamping member is actively releasable when adjusting the distance of the cutting insert seat.

Cutter device for processing difficult-to-machine material

Provided is a cutter apparatus for machining a difficult-to-machine material, the cutter apparatus including: a cutting tool body which has a fastening portion formed at a center thereof; one or more cutters which are installed on the cutting tool body, and have superhard insert tips fixed to end portions thereof, respectively; and an angle adjusting unit which is installed in an internal space of the cutters, and adjusts angles of the cutters by spreading or retracting the cutters, so that angles of the cutters may be easily adjusted in accordance with a condition for cutting a difficult-to-machine material, in order to prevent damage to the superhard insert tips when machining a difficult-to-machine material having high hardness and high toughness.

An apparatus reconfigures or configures a wheel associated with a train. The apparatus comprises a tool configured to engage the wheel a compound slide system for positioning the cutting tool in at least two axes. The compound slide system is controlled so that the wheel is configured in accordance with a profile. The slide system can be moved mechanically and/or pneumatically and/or can use a mechanical profile. The apparatus can have a low profile and a low weight.

Double eccentric positioning apparatus

A double eccentric positioning apparatus uses two equal offset eccentric bushings to accurately position a tool (such as a drill bushing) in two dimensions. Miniature servo motors and precise gearing control the rotation of each eccentric bushing, which controls the direction of the offset vectors. The offset vectors are used to determine the final position of the drill bushing. The desired rotation angles can be mathematically calculated based on desired position. The inner eccentric bushing is located concentric to the offset of the outer eccentric bushing. This allows any position, within a radius of two times the eccentric offset, to be achieved. The use of worm gearing on the eccentric bushings prevents back-driving of the servo motors, due to the lead angle of the worm gears, and the friction between the worm wheel and worm gear.

A clamping device is arranged for releasably holding a tool holder shank and includes a housing, a wedge engagement member reciprocally mounted inside the housing, and a wedge having a first pressure receiving surface and first and second wedge surfaces. An aperture extends radially through a wall of the housing and the wedge engagement member extends radially outwards into the aperture. The first wedge surface acts upon a wedge engagement slide surface on the wedge engagement member and the second wedge surface acts upon an aperture slide surface. The wedge is arranged between a surface of the housing and a surface of a member securely arranged to a drawbar to effectuate a displacement of the drawbar when the wedge is moved inwards, to clamp the tool holder shank. A sleeve is arranged around the peripheral surface of the housing for moving the wedge inwards when the sleeve is moved.

Cutting tool

Tool for machining a workpiece having a cutting insert with at least one cutting edge. Moreover, the tool has a tool holder, which extends along a holder longitudinal axis and has at a workpiece-side end a cutting insert receptacle for receiving the cutting insert, the cutting insert receptacle having an upper clamping finger and a lower clamping jaw. Furthermore, the tool has a wedge-shaped clamping element, which is fastenable in the cutting insert receptacle for wedging the cutting insert in the tool holder. In addition, the tool comprises a fastening element for fastening the clamping element in the cutting insert receptacle and for wedging the cutting insert in the tool holder.
