TOOL COUPLING BETWEEN TWO COUPLING PARTS, AND COUPLING PART FOR SUCH A TOOL COUPLING

A tool coupling used for a clamping connection between two coupling parts, in particular between a cutting head and a carrier of a rotary tool, in particular of a drill. The coupling parts comprise clamping sections, which respectively correspond to one another and which can be clamped against each other by turning counter to a predefined direction of rotation about an axis of rotation so that a press fit is produced. In order to produce a high clamping force and at the same time allow for a simple installation via screwing in, each clamping section comprises several successive clamping surfaces whichwith respect to a cross section viewed orthogonally to the axial directionrespectively travel along a circular arc, wherein the diameter increases for clamping surfaces succeeding one another in the direction of rotation.

Replaceable head cutting tool

A replaceable head cutting tool increases the strength of engagement between a tool body and a coupling member without causing damage. A cylindrical mounting unit of the coupling member which is made of a metal having hardness lower than the hardness of the tool body, is inserted into a mounting hole having a concave portion formed on the inner surface of the tool body. The mounting unit is plastically deformed so as to increase in diameter, and the outer peripheral surface of the mounting unit contacts the inner peripheral surface of the mounting hole and is engaged with the concave portion which includes a first wall surface that is inclined toward the outer peripheral side as it moves in an insertion direction of the mounting unit, and a second wall surface that is inclined toward the inner peripheral side as it moves in the insertion direction.

A rotary cutting tool includes a tool holder and a tool body releasably attached thereto. The tool body has a cutting portion that includes a peripheral insert pocket, for retaining a cutting insert. The tool holder includes an adjustment arrangement that includes a biasing member, movably attached to the tool holder, having a biasing portion. The cutting portion is adjustable between a non-flexed position and a flexed position. In the flexed position, the cutting portion is elastically deformed in a forward direction due to biasing engagement with the biasing portion, thereby adjusting the axial position of the insert pocket and thus the cutting insert.
