HANDLE FOR EXOTHERMIC MOLD WITH SPRING CONNECTORS

Disclosed is a handle clamp for an exothermic mold. The clamp includes a pair of legs, each having a plurality of rods that are shaped to fit into engagement holes on sections of the mold. The rods of each leg engage with one section of the mold. Engagement brackets are rotatably disposed on one or more or the rods. The brackets each have a thumb bolt that can be extended toward a mold section connected with the clamp. When engaged with the mold section, the thumb bolt stabilizes the mold section on the handle. A detent mechanism is provided between the bracket and the leg of the handle. The detent mechanism releaseably holds the bracket in one of a selected plurality of rotational positions with respect to the rod. By selecting different rotational positions for the brackets, the handle can be configured to engage with different configurations of mold. The thumb bolts that are biased toward the mold section by a spring. The bolts include a key that can be aligned or misaligned with a key slot on the bracket. By aligning the key with the key with the key slot, the bolt can be moved toward or away from the mold section under the biasing force of the spring. By misaligning the key and key slot, the bolt can be locked into engagement with the mold section or else held in a disengaged position.

Thermite welding

A process for welding metallic sections that includes providing first and second metallic sections to be welded together, and wherein the welded rail sections will include a weld fusion zone that further includes a weld terminus at each rail section; providing thermite welding dies for use in welding the metallic sections together; covering the thermite welding dies with an oxide displacing or oxide dissolving flux added locally to the edges of the thermite welding dies that are immediately adjacent to the weld fusion zone and the metallic sections; positioning the thermite welding dies on the metallic sections in the region where the metallic sections are to be joined together; and initiating an exothermic reaction between the thermite welding dies and the metallic sections by introducing molten metal into the region where the metallic sections are to be joined together, wherein the exothermic reaction creates a weld between the metallic sections.

Luminescent braze preforms

A braze preform is provided that includes a filler metal and a luminescent material that covers at least a portion of the filler metal and that can luminesce when exposed to a black light. The luminescent material may include a luminescent ink and a solvent that are mixed together before being applied to filler metal. Presence of the braze preform may be determined using automated equipment by detecting luminescence of the braze preform with a sensor. A decision may be made on whether to advance a parts assembly for brazing based on the determination of presence or absence of the braze preform on such parts assembly.

Joining method and joining system

A joining method for joining a first member and a second member is provided. The joining method includes a step of providing a first brazing layer on the first member by plating, a step of providing a second brazing layer on the first brazing layer by plating, a step of arranging the first member and the second member to oppose each other across the first brazing layer and the second brazing layer, and a step of melting the first brazing layer and the second brazing layer to join the first member and the second member which are arranged to oppose each other.

A method for producing a cooling device for cooling a power electronics may include an application step, a preparatory step, and a joining step. The application step may include applying a thin copper layer at least area by area onto a joining side of at least one ceramic plate. The preparatory step may include arranging the at least one ceramic plate with the thin copper layer on at least one of a first upper side of a substantially flat aluminum body and a second upper side of the aluminum body disposed opposite the first upper side. The joining step may include forming a substance-to-sub stance bond between the joining side of the at least one ceramic plate and the aluminum body via supplying heat.

Method of manufacturing percutaneous ports with wire coils

The various implementations described herein include methods used to manufacture a percutaneous port for promoting tissue in-growth around the percutaneous port. In one aspect, the method includes providing a tubular structure having an outer surface and providing a coil having an outer surface and comprised of a plurality of loops. The method further includes joining at least a portion of the outer surface of the coil to the outer surface of the tubular structure.

Reactive composite foil

A reactive composite foil, including metallic fuel particles, oxidizer particles, and a diluent, which, when ignited, produces a self-propagating thermite reaction to produce a molten metal.

CUTTER BOUND TO MATRIX DRILL BITS VIA PARTIAL TRANSIENT LIQUID-PHASE BONDS

Bonding polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) cutters to metal matrix composite (MMC) drill bits may be achieved with a partial transient liquid-phase (PTLP) bonding method that uses lower temperatures than comparable brazing methods. For example, an interlayer bonding structure positioned between a PDC cutter and the MMC may be heated to and maintained at a bonding temperature for a period of time sufficient to isothermally solidify the outer layers with the refractory layer and to react the outer layers with the hard composite substrate and to the MMC.
