Multi-Tubular Beam For A Vehicle
20210053517 · 2021-02-25 ·

A multi-tubular beam for a vehicle, such as a vehicle structure or a bumper reinforcement, includes an elongated beam formed with a metal sheet. The metal sheet has a central section and outer sections extending along a length of the metal sheet. The outer sections are disposed in opposing directions from the outer edges of the central section to provide adjacent first and second tubular portions. The central section forms a common center wall between the adjacent first and second tubular portions. A first edge portion of the metal sheet is disposed along and in parallel alignment with the center wall. The first edge portion is attached to the center wall at a first weld joint to form the first tubular portion. The first weld joint includes a weld material that extends through a thickness of the center wall and into a thickness of the first edge portion.

STEEL-FRAME CUTTING METHOD AND DEVICE

A method and an apparatus efficiently and reliably cut a steel frame. The cutting method includes locating a cutting torch apart from the steel frame held by a holding device in a direction along a cutting surface, moving the cutting torch from a cutting start position to a first cutting end position in a first feed direction perpendicular to a supply direction along the cutting surface, while applying a flame from a fire port of the cutting torch in the supply direction and supplying cutting oxygen to thereby cut a part of the cutting surface, stopping the cutting torch at the first cutting end position and thereafter cutting an uncut part by moving the cutting torch from the first cutting end position in a second feed direction opposite to the first feed direction.

Cast bumper system and method of manufacturing same

A bumper system including a bumper beam being cast from metal having a front panel and a back panel, extending between a first bumper beam end and a second bumper beam end. A plurality of reinforcing ribs integrally cast with the bumper beam extends between the front panel and the back panel defining a non-uniform cross-sectional profile along a portion of the bumper beam. The front panel includes a front center portion disposed between a pair of front side portions. The back panel includes a back center portion disposed between a pair of back side portions. The front center portion has a front center portion thickness greater than a back center portion thickness. Each of the front side portions has a front side portion thickness being less than a back side portion thickness of adjacent one of the back side portions. Method of manufacturing the bumper system is provided.

Muntin bar fabrication system

A muntin bar fabrication system can be used to efficiency produce a wide variety of different types of muntin bars, allowing the fabrication of both standard and custom muntin bar assemblies for doors, windows, and other fenestration products. In some examples, the fabrication system includes a muntin bar stock storage assembly that holds multiple different types of muntin bar stock. The system also includes a muntin bar stock extraction device that extracts one of the different types of muntin bar stock from the storage assembly and conveys the extracted muntin bar stock to a feed device. The feed device feeds the extracted piece of muntin bar stock into a cutting system that includes a multi-axis cutter. The cutting system that performs one or more cutting operations on the extracted muntin bar stock so as to fabricate one or more individual muntin bars from the extracted muntin bar stock.

A weld joint assembly is provided. The weld joint assembly includes a first structural member having a first thickness. The weld joint assembly also includes a second structural member having a second thickness. The first thickness is different from the second thickness. The second structural member is connected to the first structural member through a weld joint. A plate is connected to the first and second structural members through the weld joint. The plate has a third thickness. The plate extends and abuts a surface of one of the first and second structural members and is welded thereto at outer edges of the plate leading away from the weld joint. At least a portion of the outer edge of the plate that is opposite to the weld joint is free of attachment to the surface.
