Ultrasonic welding jig, terminal-equipped electric cable manufacturing method, and terminal-equipped electric cable
An ultrasonic welding jig includes: an anvil that supports a plate-like electric cable connection portion of a terminal; and a welding horn that is disposed so as to oppose the anvil, and in which a fitting groove is formed in an opposing surface, the fitting groove being a groove in which a portion of a core wire of an electric cable is fitted. In a state in which the core wire and the electric cable connection portion are clamped between the welding horn and the anvil, ultrasonic welding is performed by ultrasonically vibrating the welding horn in an axial direction of the core wire. In a bottom surface of the fitting groove of the welding horn, a plurality of slippage prevention grooves that are obliquely oriented and intersect an axis of the fitting groove are formed spaced apart in a direction of the axis of the fitting groove.
Welding Process
A process for welding a conductor onto a workpiece includes providing the conductor including a first metal, providing the workpiece including a second metal, removing an insulation of the conductor over a predetermined length, and forming a bead in a stripped region of the conductor. The conductor is held down on the workpiece to produce a mechanical contact in a welding region between the conductor and the workpiece. The welding region is arranged in a region of the bead. The conductor is laser welded to the workpiece in the welding region.

A guidewire for use in intravascular procedures has an inner coil that is radiopaque and an outer coil that is non-radiopaque at the distal end of the guidewire. The radiopaque inner coil is visible under fluoroscopy so that the physician can monitor the location of the distal end of the guidewire during a procedure. The inner coil and the outer coil can be formed from a single wire or a multi-filar wire. The inner coil and the outer coil can have any of the following cross-sections for enhanced torquability: I-beam; vertical rectangular; vertical ellipse; square; peanut shape; vertical hexagonal; horizontal hexagonal; and horizontal ellipse.

Production of a planar connection between an electrical conductor and a contact piece
A method is provided for electrically conductively connecting a contact part to a conductor having a multiplicity of individual wires includes inserting the conductor into a cavity in the contact part and lowering a tool for friction stir welding onto the contact part. The tool for friction stir welding is moved on the contact part in a plane, thus giving rise to a planar cohesive connection between the contact part and the conductor. In this way, a direct cohesive connection of a stranded conductor and a contact part is produced without the need for an additional part such as a sleeve, for example, to prevent the stranded conductor from sticking out.
