Upright vise and method of repairing a liquid paint displacement pump
11980982 · 2024-05-14 ·

An upright vise supports and stabilizes a liquid paint displacement pump so that an individual technician on the road can safely, quickly, accurately, and securely open the pump, removed damaged piston packings from within the pump, replace with new piston packings and close the pump. A clever two-part locking and stabilizing mechanism secures the pump in an upright position to permit the technician to replace worn or defective piston packings using only an ordinary torque wrench.

hi a method for repairing a fractured coated continuous sucker rod, the pin end segment of the broken rod is discarded, the remaining rod is cut off; and the existing rod coating is trimmed back from the rod cut-off point. A replacement pin end, incorporating a rod portion and an upset pin end, is welded to the cut-off end of the sucker rod. A resilient cylindrical repair sleeve with a longitudinal slit is spread open and urged by radial force over and around the rod portion of the replacement pin end and the adjoining exposed portion of the sucker rod. Using an appropriate fusing apparatus, the edges of the repair sleeve's longitudinal slit are then fused together, and one end of the sleeve is circumferentially fused to the trimmed-back existing coating. Repair sleeves can also be used to repair damaged sections of coating on unfractured sucker rods.

A tool for removing and replacing a piston from a drum of an automotive transmission has a generally circular base including a first set of openings arranged, when the tool is placed on a drum of an automotive transmission, to be in alignment with rivets attaching the piston to the drum. A cutting element is inserted into each of the first set of openings for cutting the rivets to remove the piston from the drum for repair or replacement. A second set of openings in the base are offset from the first set of openings when the tool is placed on the drum. A drilling element is inserted into each of the second set of openings for drilling holes in the drum which are offset from the first set of openings for readily removably mounting the repaired or replacement piston to the drum at positions on the drum offset from the positions at which the rivets have been cut. A method for removing and replacing the piston from the drum is provided by use of the tool.

Embodiments of the present invention include a press base assembly, a strengthening ring for use with press bases and related methods. In one embodiment, a press base assembly includes a press base having a body that includes a piston cavity at one end. The body, at a second end opposite that of the piston cavity, may exhibit a desired geometry. A strengthening ring may be shaped, sized and configured to substantially mate with the geometry of the second end of the body and be placed thereover. For example, the geometry of the second end may be substantially circular exhibiting a particular diameter and circumference. The strengthening ring may have substantially circular internal surface sized and configured such that the strengthening ring is positioned on the second end of the body in a manner that results in an interference fit between the two components.

Fuel Injector Bore Repair

A method for remanufacturing or repairing a cylinder head having a bore configured to receive a fuel injector comprises machining a portion of a surface forming the bore to remove imperfections, inserting a repair component into the bore proximate the machined portion of the bore, and spraying material into the bore proximate the machined portion and the repair component, thereby holding the component into place.
