Net forged spiral bevel gear
A method that includes: providing a blank; heating the blank; forging the heated blank to form a forged gear having a plurality of spiral bevel gear teeth; machining the forged gear to a predetermined thickness while locating off of the plurality of gear teeth to form a green machined forged gear; rotationally and axially engaging a die to the gear teeth of the green machined forged gear to induce plastic flow in the gear teeth to form an intermediate gear in which the plurality of gear teeth conform to a predetermined tooth form; heat-treating the intermediate gear to form a hardened intermediate gear; and lapping the plurality of gear teeth of the hardened intermediate gear with a spiral bevel pinion gear; wherein the plurality of gear teeth are not machined in a chip-producing machining operation before the plurality of gear teeth are lapped.
TRANSMISSION WHEEL AND A METHOD FOR ITS MOUNTING
A transmission wheel assembled of at least two segments (1) on a shaft (12), the inner arc surface (3) of which and the shaft (12) have essentially the same radius (R), and which segments' (1) outer surfaces (9) have profiled surfaces that transmit the power of the transmission wheel. Between the segments' (1) welded-together end faces (4) there are gaps on those sections of the end faces (4) that are not welded, which creates a press fit between the shaft (12) and the inner arc surface (3) of the transmission wheel. The weld connecting the transmission wheel segments' (1) end faces (4) may be incomplete, meaning that it does not reach the shaft (12).
Gear manufacturing method and gear manufactured thereby
A gear manufacturing method includes a step of preparing a gear blank; a step (teeth cutting step) of cutting the gear blank to form a half-finished gear having a plurality of gear teeth; a step (heat treatment step) of heat-treating the half-finished gear having the gear teeth; and a step (form rolling step) of rolling the half-finished gear which is subjected to the heat treatment, in which the gear teeth of the half-finished gear which is subjected to the teeth cutting step is formed with protuberances on both sides in a circumferential direction, and at the form rolling step, the protuberances are pressed by a rolling die, so that the half-finished gear becomes a gear.

Gearing method with tooth finishing and combination tool therefor
A method for producing gears, wherein in a first step a set of teeth is formed by means of a skiving wheel rotationally driven by a tool spindle in a workpiece gear rotationally driven synchronously thereto by a workpiece spindle, wherein the workpiece spindle and the tool spindle are at an axis intersection angle to each other and the advancement occurs in the tooth-flank extension direction, and wherein in a second step at least some teeth of the set of teeth are machined by means of a tooth-machining tool. A combined tool is used, in the case of which the toothmachining tool and the skiving wheel are fixedly connected to each other. Between the two steps, the combined tool remains connected to the tool spindle and the workpiece gear remains connected to the workpiece spindle. Between the two steps, merely the relative position of the tool spindle in relation to the workpiece spindle and the rotational speed ratio of the two spindles are changed.
Method for the Manufacture of a Gear Component, and Gear Grinding Machine
A method for the manufacture of a gear component includes, in a soft machining process, introducing a preliminary toothing 3 with a machining allowance 7 that is fixed relative to a final toothing 4 into a blank such that a semi-finished part 2 is produced. The method also includes, in a fine machining process, removing the machining allowance 7 and producing the final toothing 4 of the toothed component. The machining allowance 7 is removed in a single-stage hobbing method by a grinding tool 1, wherein the grinding tool 1 removes the machining allowance completely in a single stroke movement H.
Automotive flywheel with fins to increase airflow through clutch, and heat management method
A flywheel for use in an automobile between an engine and a clutch assembly is provided. The flywheel is a circular member having an engine side and an opposite clutch side. An aperture is formed in the circular member having an axis, and the aperture is used to operatively attach the flywheel to the engine. A plurality of clutch fins and/or grooves are formed on the clutch side adjacent the outer edge of the circular member and spaced radially about the axis of the aperture of the flywheel. The clutch fins have a face that is generally coplanar with the clutch side of the circular member. The fins and grooves work to cool the internal components of the engine. Optionally, a second set of grooves and fins may be formed on the engine side of the flywheel to further aid in cooling the clutch disc and other engine components.
