A device for covering a tooth profile during machined processing with a tool, including an appliance for applying cooling lubricant to at least one contact area between the tool and the tooth profile during machine processing of the tooth profile by means of the tool. The appliance includes a guiding means by means of which a front face of the tooth profile in an area that is facing towards the contact area and an environment of the tooth profile in front of the area can be at least partially covered. The appliance is formed with at least one conduit which, in the operational state of the guiding means in which the tooth profile is covered, is arranged so as to extend in front of the tooth profile in the area that is shielded by the guiding means, and via which cooling lubricant can be supplied to the contact area through the guiding means.

Method for forming a workpiece

A method of forming a workpiece having machinability rating not greater than a machinability rating of Inconel 718. The method may include removing material from the workpiece by moving at least one grinding tool relative to the workpiece and may be conducted at a specific grinding energy of not greater than about 7 Hp/in.sup.3 min (about 19 J/mm.sup.3) for a material removal rate of at least about 2.5 in.sup.3/min.Math.in (about 25 mm.sup.3sec/mm).

METHOD OF REMOVAL OF SHARP CORNERS FROM DIFFUSER PLATE

Methods for manufacturing a diffuser plate for a PECVD chamber are provided. The methods provide for applying a compliant abrasive medium to round the sharp edges at corners of the output holes on a contoured downstream side of a gas diffuser plate. By rounding the edges of the output holes reduces the flaking of deposited materials on the downstream side of the gas diffuser plate and reduces the amount of undesirable particles generated during the PECVD deposition process.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING RING
20190168285 · 2019-06-06 · ·

This method for manufacturing a ring is a method for manufacturing an endless metal ring for a continuously variable transmission using a transmission belt that is formed by binding a plurality of elements with the ring. The method includes: a welding step of butt welding ends of a metal strip to form an endless tubular body; a solution treatment step of solution-treating the welded tubular body; a cutting step of cutting the solution-treated tubular body with laser light into ring bodies with a predetermined width; a lateral end processing step of pressing a grinding wheel against a lateral end of the cut ring body to remove a heat-affected zone formed by the cutting step and form the lateral end into a convex arc shape; and a rolling step of adjusting the ring body with the processed lateral end to a predetermined thickness.

Method for detecting and/or preventing grind burn

The present disclosure provides a method of detecting and preventing grind burn from developing on a gear. The method includes performing acoustic emission testing while the gear is being ground during a grinding operation. The grinding wheel is evaluated during an eddy current test to detect material buildup on the grinding wheel which could cause grind burn. In addition, the method includes collecting swarf from the gear during the grinding operation and inspecting the swarf for an indication of grind burn.
