A sanding device includes a base, a plurality of protrusions extending from the base, a plurality of fasteners, a first one of the fasteners extending through the base, a clamping mechanism having openings through which the protrusions and the first one of the fasteners extend, and a spring arranged over the first one of the fasteners, between the base and the clamping mechanism. The clamping mechanism is releasably fixed in contact with the base in a first state and the clamping mechanism is spaced from the base in a second state while retained with respect to the base by at least a pair of the plurality of protrusions extending from the base to substantially prevent axial rotation of the clamping mechanism.

A wall sanding apparatus includes a plate having a top side, a bottom side, a front edge and a rear edge. An abrasive element for sanding joint compound has an upper surface that is removably attached to the bottom side and has lower surface comprising an abrasive surface. The abrasive element has a forward edge and a rearward edge respectively corresponding to the front edge and rear edge of the plate. The forward edge is adjacent to the front edge and is angled outwardly away and downwardly from the plate such that the forward edge extends forwardly of the front edge. An acute angle is formed at a juncture of the forward edge and the lower surface that is less than 75 and defines an angled edge for sanding corners of wall abutting each other to form angles of less than 180.

Example implementations relate to a sanding tool having an intermediate adapter pad. The sanding tool includes a rigid base plate configured for releasable attachment to a number of sanding handles. The sanding tool also includes an adapter pad that comprises: an upper portion configured to receive the rigid base plate, the upper portion including a perimeter portion that extends above an upper surface of the rigid base plate; and a lower surface configured for releasable attachment to a lower pad, wherein a lower surface of the lower pad is configured for releasable attachment to a working material. The perimeter portion includes a channel configured to receive a bristle ring.
