Sharpening device

According to this application there is provided a portable sharpening device. More specifically, a portable sharpening device comprising a body portion comprising a surfacing member, a mouth in communication with the surfacing member, arranged to guide an object to be sharpened towards the surfacing member; wherein the device is arranged to sharpen a face of said object by relative movement between the surfacing member and the object to be sharpened and wherein said relative movement is created manually by a user.

Blade sharpeners

A blade sharpener for manual use includes a base, and at least one sharpening device pivotally attached to the base. Each sharpening device has a channel for receiving a blade to be sharpened. A second pivotally attached device may be sharpening device or a guide. The two devices are pivotable independently of each other thereby accommodating any curvature of a blade to be sharpened as the blade sharpener is moved along the blade. A blade sharpener for use with a powered rotary tool includes a main body having a bore for receiving the powered rotary tool, and a channel for receiving a blade to be sharpened. A guide having a channel is pivotably attached to the main body to accommodate any curvature of a blade.

A skate blade sharpening tool that has a cylindrical sharpening stone that is positioned directly over the blade and adjusting the slot width in the sharpener using thumb screws to match the blade width. When tightening the thumb screws, the two halves of the tool handle will decrease the slot width onto the blade. This pressure on the blade will force the through shaft and cylindrical stone to be centered over the blade. The sharpening stone will remove metal to match the shape of the stone each time the sharpener is moved back and forth along the blade. The sharpening stone has gears on each end of the stone that match the gears inside the two-piece body. As the tool is moved along the skate blade, the sharpening stone will incrementally rotate within the body when the direction is changed in the reciprocating motion by the user's back and forth movement. The sharpener also has a deburring stone mounted to the black of the handheld sharpener.
