HIGH TORQUE TOOL
An apparatus for precisely measuring and applying torque and angle of rotation to tighten screwed fasteners. The apparatus includes a drive motor for generating a rotation, a pair of spaced triggers for activating the operation of the drive motor, and a controller for precisely measuring the torque to be applied and angle of rotation to be achieved by the apparatus, the controller not permitting the motor to be activated without both of the triggers being activated. A reduction gear system is also provided for reducing a rate of rotation generated by the motor, the reduction gear system outputting a rotational drive torque for driving the screwed fastener.
Arrangement of a Tightening Device for a Screw Connection and a Safety Device
A tightening device for a screw connection and a safety device assigned to the tightening device are provided. The screw connection has a bolt and a nut resting on a support surface. The tightening device has a cylinder housing, a hydraulically driven piston arranged in the cylinder housing and moveable along an axis, an exchangeable bush which can be carried on the axis and screwed to the threaded bolt, and a carrier connectable to the threaded nut by force fit or form fit. To prevent jumping of the tightening device on breakage of the bolt, the safety device has a threaded sleeve and a protective arm. The threaded sleeve is arranged outside the cylinder housing and has an internal thread for engaging a threaded bolt adjacent to the bolt. The protective arm is attached to the threaded sleeve and extends over the cylinder housing of the tightening device.
Torque assembly and reaction arm with safety tether
A torque wrench assembly comprises a torque wrench and a reaction arm and locking means for locking together the torque wrench and the reaction arm. The locking means comprises a connection member located on the torque wrench; an opening on the reaction arm for receipt of the connection member of the torque wrench; a locking member slidably mounted in a channel on the reaction arm, the locking member including an aperture sized to allow the connection member to pass therethrough; and biasing means arranged to bias the locking member into a position wherein the aperture is partially aligned with the opening. The connection member has an insertion end for insertion into the opening of the reaction arm, and immediately adjacent the insertion end is a recess. The recess is shaped to receive a part of the locking member.
Valve cap adapter and arrangement and method of removing a valve cap
Method of removing a valve cap threadedly engaged with a valve body includes inserting at least one coupling rod from a cap adapter through a valve cap attachment hole to couple the structures, coupling an output drive of a torque multiplier with the adapter, and exerting an input torque on the torque multiplier to rotate the adapter and valve cap, the input torque exerted on the torque multiplier being increased by the torque multiplier.
Industrial tool and drive system for same
A drive system for an industrial tool (e.g., a hydraulic torque wrench) includes a cylinder, a first piston, a first rod, a second piston, and a second rod. The cylinder includes a first end, a second end, and a longitudinal axis extending therebetween. The first piston is disposed within the cylinder and movable along the longitudinal axis. The first rod is coupled to the first piston and extends toward the first end of the cylinder. The second piston is disposed within the cylinder and movable along the longitudinal axis. The second rod is coupled to the second piston and extends toward the first end of the cylinder.
JOINTED STALL BAR ATTACHMENT
A torque transfer device is provided to transfer torque from a torque tool to a torque limiter device, the torque transfer device comprising a torque limiter connection member adapted for connection to the torque limiter device; a first joint; a second joint; and a tool connection member adapted for connection to the torque tool, wherein the first joint and the second joint are configured to lock responsive to activation of the torque tool to transfer a reaction torque generated by the torque tool to the torque limiter device, and wherein the first joint and the second joint are configured to unlock responsive to deactivation of the torque tool to enable rotation between the torque tool and the torque limiter device along a first axis and a second axis different from the first axis.
Apparatus for tightening threaded fasteners
The present invention seeks to protect Applicant's HYTORC® LITHIUM SERIES™ Torque Gun Tools for tightening and/or loosening of industrial threaded fasteners. Such tools include: a drive input and output assembly; a turning force multiplication assembly; a dual drive output and reaction assembly; and a yoke-style shifting assembly for any torque mode from lower and/or higher resistance and/or speed. A preferred embodiment includes an electric motor of the drive input and output assembly powered by a battery pack. Advantageously, the yoke-style shifting assembly: improves and simplifies design and operation of shifting; reduces tool size and cost; and increases tool portability, efficiency, reliability and repeatability, all without sacrificing Applicant's many innovations in hand-held, multispeed torque intensifying tools.
Tool and method for removal of variable stator vane bushing
A tool for removal of a bushing (such as a bushing of a variable stator vane assembly of a compressor) is provided. The tool includes a cylindrical housing, a lead screw, a threaded nut, and a pulling module with puller arms to engage the bushing. The housing defines a longitudinal axis along which the lead screw extends. The lead screw is rotatably secured within the cylindrical housing by a threaded nut engaged with the lead screw. The pulling module is removably attached to the threaded nut, such that the lead screw passes through the threaded nut before passing through the pulling module. The pulling module is provided with a pair of oppositely disposed puller arms, and each puller arm is provided with a hook portion having an engagement tab configured to engage a respective notch on the bushing. A method of removing the bushing using the tool is also disclosed.
Offset torque multiplier
An offset torque multiplier includes an input planetary gearset configured to receive an input torque. The input planetary gearset includes an input sun gear. The input sun gear is rotatable about a first axis of rotation. The offset torque multiplier includes an output planetary gearset configured to provide an output torque. The output planetary gearset includes an output sun gear. The output sun gear is rotatable about a second axis of rotation. The second axis of rotation is offset from the first axis of rotation. The offset torque multiplier includes at least one intermediate planetary gearset coupled between the input planetary gearset and the output planetary gearset. The output torque is greater than the input torque.
