20190255723 · 2019-08-22 ·

A culinary tool for slicing and dicing, includes a base connected by a hinge to a frame that carries two cutting grids. A drive mechanism connects a pivoting handle to a pusher such that pivoting of the handle relative to the frame drives displacement of the pusher and the turning of the frame between the open and closed positions, and a forward stroke turns the frame about the hinge toward the base, pressing the item through the first cutting grid, and a reverse stroke moves the pusher to the one of the ends of the cavity, pressing the item through the second cutting grid.

Method and apparatus for assessing the current state of doneness of a cooking food item
20190234925 · 2019-08-01 ·

A method and apparatus is provided for assessing the current state of doneness of a cooking food item. In a preferred embodiment, a sharpened hollow tubular cutting member of relatively small diameter is rotationally activated to cut and remove from a cooking food item a cylindrical core sample, preferably throughout its entire thickness, without substantial distortion of the shape of the sample. Upon expulsion from the cutting member, inspection of the core sample permits visual determination of the current state of doneness of the food item.

A device for comminuting foodstuffs has a base part which has a receptacle for a cutting part, and has an actuation part that is connected in an articulated manner to the base part and is pivotable toward the base part for a product to be comminuted to be pushed along a pushing through direction through a cutting part inserted into the receptacle and into a container. The receptacle is configured for receiving at least two cutting parts on top of one another such that product to be comminuted by means of a pivoting movement of the actuation part toward the base part is capable of being pushed through the cutting parts that are disposed on top of one another in the receptacle wherein the two cutting parts are disposable at different mutual relative rotary alignments in the receptacle.

Press cutting die assembly

An assembly and method of forming a press cutting die that includes a cutting blade that is supported by a blade support assembly or blade support. The blade support includes a first base portion and a second base portion that are each contoured to cooperate with one another to capture a portion of the cutting blade along an interface between the first and second base portions. Preferably, one or more keys extend between the first and second base portions and traverse the geometric plane associated with the cutting blade. Such a press cutting die is particularly applicable for cutting biologically compatible materials having a desired shape from a bulk source of the biologically compatible material.

Machines and methods capable of producing diced products from a variety of materials. A stripper plate for such machines and methods has one or more slots sized to accommodate one or more circular knives of a circular cutter. The stripper plate has a base and an oppositely-disposed second surface. The slots are defined in the second surface and extend from the second surface to the base so as to define individual openings in the base. The slots are defined by multi-tiered walls so that the slots are wider at the openings thereof than in another portion of the slots.

A can opener has a cutter blade mounted with a body and a traction wheel mounted with the body on or adjacent the cutter blade. One of the cutter blade or traction wheel is movable with respect to the other between an inoperative position and an operative position. In the inoperative position the traction wheel and the cutter blade are spaced apart so that a rim of a can to be opened may be located between the traction wheel and the cutter blade. In the operative position the traction wheel and the cutter blade engage a can for opening the can. The can opener has an operating element that is operable by a user of the can opener for turning the traction wheel. Operation of the operating element also moves the cutter blade and traction wheel from the inoperative position to the operative position.
