Safety system for a machine tool

A safety system is provided for a machine tool which has a frame and a tool. The safety system has a clamping device and a motion device. The clamping device is movable by the motion device from a working position, in which the tool is extended and can be used for working, to a safety position, in which the tool is retracted. The motion device has a first magnetic means connected to or arranged on the tool and a second magnetic means connected to or arranged on the frame, such that movement of the tool by the motion device from the working position to the safety position can be triggered and/or at least partially performed by magnetic force.

A power tool with a rotatable tool designed as a saw blade or a milling cutter. The power tool includes a sensor device for detecting a mechanical quantity, the mechanical quantity including a force, an acceleration, a velocity, a deflection, a deformation and/or a mechanical stress. The mechanical quantity is dependent on a force emanating from the tool, and a control device communicatively coupled to the sensor device. The control device is adapted to recognize a kickback event based on the detected mechanical quantity, in which the control device is adapted to selectively determine a first recognition function or a second recognition function different from the first recognition function based on a function determination information, and to perform the recognition of the kickback event based on the detected mechanical quantity using the determined recognition function.

Method for optimized wood production in a chop saw

An automated crosscut saw system utilizing a wood scanning unit to optimize the cuts in a particular piece of wood to remove defects or flaws and a method of use therefor is provided. The automated saw system has the ability to scan and cut a piece of wood simultaneously or in rapid succession without the need for scanning the entire length of the wood prior to cutting. Further, the automated saw system may eliminate the need for a secondary feeder and secondary queue.

MITER SAW

A miter saw includes a base assembly and a saw unit pivotably coupled to the base assembly. The saw unit includes a saw blade and a lower blade guard covering a lower portion of the saw blade. The miter saw also includes a linkage for raising the lower blade guard to expose the lower portion of the saw blade as the saw unit is lowered toward the base assembly. The linkage is operable to apply a force to the lower blade guard for holding the lower blade guard in a raised position, without any input from the operator of the miter saw and without changing the length of the linkage, to facilitate changing the saw blade.

PROTECTIVE COVER WITH COOLING FOR CUTTER DISCS

Protective cover with cooling for cutter discs; which comprises a generally semi-cylindrical cavity (15) that covers a portion of the cutting disc (2) at the top and that is delimited by two lateral walls (11, 12) and a curved perimeter wall (13). Said cavity (15) internally comprises, in its periphery, fastening means (16, 17) for a tube (3) and a cooling liquid supply nozzle (31) for the disc (2) in at least one upper position (P1) in which the nozzle (31) pours the liquid on the upper end of the disc (2), and one lower position (P5) in which the nozzle (31) sprays the liquid directly against the edge of the disc (2).
