Apparatus and method for a chipper assembly
A chipping machine includes a debarking assembly, a chipper assembly, and a log advance system to conveys logs through the chipping machine and into contact with the debarking assembly and chipper assembly. A rotating chipper disk cuts chips from the log. A housing encloses the chipper disc and includes a spout that provides an exit path for chips out of the housing. The chipper assembly includes a first path for collecting bark and directing bark out of the machine. A second path that is separate from the first path collects trash and directs the collected trash to first path and out of the machine. An inlet of the second path is an opening formed in a base of the housing. The second path includes a chute onto which trash falls and then slides under the force of gravity to the first path.
STUMP GRINDING WOOD CHIP COLLECTION SYSTEM
A wood chip collection system having a stump grinding wheel, a chip chute and a chip collection bin. The chute is positioned such that chips generated by the rotation of the wheel when engaged in a stump will be directed into the chute. The chute, in turn is sized and shaped to permit the energy in the chips to move the chips into a collection bin. The bin is positioned adjacent to and in alignment with the trailing edge of the chute in order to effectively receive the chips.
System of chipper knives and knife stops
A disc chipper has thick double-edged chipper blades clamped in rectangular pockets between a knife segment and a knife clamp which are connected to a chipper disc. The blades are precisely positioned for cutting by knife stops selected from a set of knife stops of incremental modular widths. A different width knife stop is used to position the chipper knife blades each time it is sharpened. After each sharpening the knife blade has a selected width which is smaller by a constant incremental value, and it is assembled with a mating knife stop from the set so that the blade edge position remains unchanged.

An impact cutter blade and holder system is disclosed. The impact cutter blade and holder system includes: a cutter disk, a plurality of impact holders, and a plurality of impact cutter blades. The cutter disk has a central axis about which the cutter disk is configured to rotate. The plurality of impact holders are secured to the cutter disk. The plurality of impact cutter blades is secured to the plurality of impact holders.

Disclosed is a cutting tool mounted on a shaft rotating about an axis, including a body having first cutting inserts mounted with equal spacing at the outer periphery of the body, which first cutting inserts have a cutting edge extending across the width of the body at a predetermined peripheral radius from the axis; and second cutting inserts mounted with equal spacing adjacent the outer periphery on a first side surface of the body, which second cutting inserts have a cutting edge extending in an axial plane perpendicular to the axis. The cutting edge of each first insert extends up to a predetermined distance from the axial plane of the second inserts; and the cutting edge of each second insert preceding a first insert extends a predetermined radial distance outside the peripheral radius of the cutting edges of the first inserts. A device and method for reducing a size of feed material. The device has a knife ring that is stationary within a housing or rotates around an axis. The knife ring has rod-shaped knife carriers that are disposed concentrically around the axis in an axis-parallel position at a mutual circumferential distance from each other and that form an inner circumferential surface of the knife ring with their sides facing the axis. Each knife carrier having a receptacle for fastening a flaking knife. The flaking knife protruding by its edge between two knife carriers into the flaking chamber. A measuring instrument includes at least one distance sensor that measures a distance of the inner circumferential surface and/or the edges of the flaking knives from the at least one distance sensor.
WOOD CHIPPER WITH DRUM SPEED MONITORING SYSTEM AND CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH
A wood chipper having a rotatable drum configured to reduce the size of wood fed into the wood chipper; a sensor configured to sense a speed of rotation of the rotatable drum; and a controller operably connected to the sensor. The controller is configured to cut power to the rotatable drum when the speed of rotation of the rotatable drum drops below a pre-set threshold value. The controller is operably engaged with a centrifugal clutch that is engaged to enable the rotatable drum to be rotated. When the speed of drum rotation drops below the threshold value because debris is slowing down rotation of the drum, the centrifugal clutch is disengaged by dropping engine speed. Disengagement of the centrifugal clutch cuts power to the drum and rotation thereof ceases so that the debris may be cleared.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR A CHIPPER ASSEMBLY

AXIAL ADJUSTMENT APPARATUS FOR CHIPPER DISC
An apparatus, system and method for adjusting and setting a fixed position of an axially displaceable shaft and rotary chipper disc combination, without requiring an attachment to or obstruction of an end face of either end of the axially displaceable shaft. A rotary chipper disc recoil mechanism is also provided for the purpose of detection of unwanted axial forces placed upon the rotating shaft caused by unintentional chipping of metal, and for limiting consequential damage caused by the unintentional chipping of metal and other non-wood materials.
Wood Chipping Knife for use with Clamping Assembly
A polyhedral knife that in side profile resembles a gull wing is configured for being securely retained in a clamping assembly defined by a clamp and a holder, wherein the knife is retained between the clamp and the holder. The knife has a central portion between opposite wing portions. The knife is rectangular in shape and has a central, upwardly extending semi-circular upper ridge that extends across the knife on the upper surface and the upper ridge defines a locator that is retained in a cooperatively shaped groove in the clamp. The lower surface of the knife is defined by a central locator ridge and concave surfaces on opposite sides of the locator. The clamp and the holder have cooperatively shaped, angled and radiused surfaces to mate with facing surfaces of the knife.
