A mixing system and method. The mixing system includes a mixer configured to mix a dry component into a fluid to generate a slurry, one or more pumps coupled with the mixer and configured to deliver the fluid thereto, and a manifold system coupled to the mixer and the one or more pumps. The manifold system includes one or more valves configured to direct the slurry from the mixer. The mixing system is operable in a first mixing mode to mix a first type of the slurry, and the mixing system is operable in a second mixing mode to mix a second type of the slurry. The manifold system is configured to prevent inert mixing of the first and second types of the slurry.

The method may include receiving in a preliminary mixing unit an asphalt shingle material input from a first feed system and a fluid asphalt material input from a second feed system, and heating and melting the asphalt shingle material and the fluid asphalt material in the preliminary mixing unit and then agitating the same to produce a molten asphalt. The method may include receiving in a primary mixing unit recycled asphalt material input from a third feed system and particulate material input from a fourth feed system, and mixing the molten asphalt from the preliminary mixing unit in the primary mixing unit with the same to produce an output of said asphalt mix. The method may include recirculating, in an intermediate tank, the molten asphalt.

The shaftless helical auger body has an interior volume and a plurality of fingers extending from the auger body into the interior volume. The shaftless helical auger body has an uneven pitch such that a second portion of the helical auger body in the chute has a greater pitch than a first portion of the helical auger body in the hopper.

An ingredient blending apparatus is disclosed which blends a plurality of ingredients into a homogeneous blend. The apparatus includes a container which receives various ingredients in a prescribed amount. A vacuum motor has its intake side in communication with the interior of the container to suck the ingredients from the container and blow the same into a blending chamber. The ingredients blown into the blending chamber are mixed and recycled into the vacuum motor and the blending chamber until the ingredients are properly mixed or blended. When the ingredients are properly mixed or blended, they may be sent to an ingredient collection apparatus.
