20230286229 · 2023-09-14 ·

A method of forming a composite structure is presented. A charge is placed on a charge support surface of a charge forming table in a planar orientation, the charge support surface formed by a plurality of surfaces of a plurality of charge forming fingers. A number of charge forming fingers of the plurality of charge forming fingers is actuated to form a curvature into the charge. The charge having the curvature is removed from the charge forming table. The charge having the curvature is placed onto a tool having a matching surface curvature.

According to some aspects, a method is provided of casting an object from a mold, the method comprising obtaining a mold comprising a hollow shell of rigid material, the material comprising a thermoset polymer having a plurality of pores formed therein, providing a metal and/or ceramic slurry into an interior of the mold, exposing at least part of the mold to a low pressure environment so that a net flow of gas is produced from the interior of the mold into the low pressure environment. According to some aspects, a method of forming a porous mold is provided. According to some aspects, a photocurable liquid composition is provided, comprising a liquid photopolymer resin, particles of a solid material, in an amount between 30% and 60% by volume of the composition, and a water-soluble liquid.

EYEWEAR LENS CREATION USING ADDITIVE TECHNIQUES WITH DIFFUSE LIGHT

Systems and methods for lens creations are disclosed. The method includes initiating light transmission from a light source through a diffuser into a container holding resin and a substrate. The light transmission is performed according to an irradiation pattern wherein each point in the resin is illuminated by at least 10% of the diffuser. This causes a lens to be formed. To achieve this illumination, at least 15% of the diffuser receives light from the light source. Further, a diameter of the diffuser is greater than or equal to a diameter of the substrate. The system performing the methods includes a polymerization apparatus and may include a resin conditioning and reservoir apparatus, a metrology unit, a resin drainage apparatus and an optional postcuring apparatus.

Leveler Table

A leveler table includes a plate with a flat top work surface that is level in all planes, by locating a circular level recessed within the center of the plate, so that the level indicator of the circular level is in horizontal alignment with the top work surface. By locating the circular level in the middle of the plate, at the same horizontal level as the work surface, this leveler table provides accuracy and repeatability for use of the flat top work surface in manufacturing steps, particularly the forming of parts where repeatability is necessary, such as the in situ forming of an automotive windshield sensor pad in an open ended package supported on the flat top surface.

SOFT MOLD TOOL INCLUDING A PHOTOMASK

A soft mold tool including an elastomeric material; and a photomask; wherein the photomask is positioned within the elastomeric material is disclosed. Additionally, a soft mold tool, including an elastomeric material; and an opaque material on a portion of a surface of the elastomeric material is disclosed. A method of making the soft mold tool is also disclosed.

A thin-walled mold and a method for manufacturing a part made of composite material, the material including reinforcing fibers and a polymer matrix, the method including the following consecutive steps: installing, in a matrix mounted on a press, a closed thin-walled mold in which reinforcing fibers have been arranged; closing the press; injecting a polymer or a reactive composition including at least one prepolymer, at least one monomer or a mixture thereof, in the molten state, into the closed thin-walled mold; keeping the press closed during all or part of the polymerisation of the polymer matrix when a reactive composition is used; opening the press and removing the thin-walled mold from the press, while maintaining a residual pressure of between 0.7 and 10 bar, preferably between 0.7 and 5 bar, inside the mold; and cooling the mold under said residual pressure.

AN ADJUSTABLE SURFACE AND METHODS OF USE

A system is provided that includes an adjustable surface that can be quickly adjusted through use of a plurality of actuators. The surface can be used as a dynamic decoration or a haptic visualization tool for the blind. The system uses special couplings between the actuators and the adjustable surface that allow the actuators to control the shape of the surface, while still allowing the surface to be deformed by outside pressure without forcing or damaging the actuators. These couplings formed by a selection of springs, flexures, cables, and ball joints allow the surface to be quickly adjusted to a new shape. The adjustable surface can be used to shape plastic, metal, or glass sheets or as composite layup forms. A frame of the system engages actuators in a way that allows the actuators to move in axial directions of the actuators and adjust the shape of the surface.

Process for producing a cured 3D product

The invention is directed to a process for producing a cured 3D product comprising the following steps: (a) providing a form negative mould of the 3D product comprising of one or two formed plastic sheets as obtained by thermoforming corresponding with the shape of the 3D product; (b) adding a liquid curable composition to the mould such that the inner surface of the mould is covered by the curable composition; and (c) solidifying the curable composition wherein a solidified layer or body is formed having the shape of the 3D product; wherein the cured 3D product is a radiation cured 3D product; and wherein the step (c) a radiation curable composition is solidified by radiation through the plastic sheet of the mould to form a solidified layer having the shape of the 3D product.
