Sealing and testing segmented tools
A substantially air-tight triple seal arrangement along a seam between first and second tool segments comprises inner, middle and outer seals forming first and second substantially air tight vacuum chambers.
Lens casting system
An optical lens casting gasket, wafer, and system and method that provides for more efficient formation of optical lenses employing optically functional wafers.
OPEN AREA CORE SANDWICH STRUCTURE MANUFACTURING TOOL
A tool for manufacturing a sandwich composite material component is provided that includes a lower tool having a surface configured to receive materials for forming the sandwich composite material component. An upper tool is also provided that has a sealing edge and a cutting edge. The upper tool and the lower tool are configured to be separated to an open position and to be brought together to a closed position, the upper tool and the lower tool define a cavity when in the closed position. A process for forming a sandwich composite material component is also provided.
Flexible multiple piece mold assembly with seals for producing a comestible baked product in complex shape
A mold assembly including at least three pieces that are joined together by a seal. Once joined together, the mold assembly defines an interior cavity defining a shape for a baked comestible product. A comestible substance is injected into the interior cavity through an opening in the mold assembly that is either defined by one of the three pieces or by an opening in the seal between two or more of the three pieces. After baking, the pieces of the mold can be peeled away from the comestible product by breaking the seal.
Molding method and molding system for resin molded member
A molding method and a molding system for improving a molding speed of a resin molded member. In the method, firstly a thermoplastic resin composite material is filled in a metal mold (i.e., at time T0), and subsequently a mold-clamping process gets started. As the mold-clamping process progresses, a first decompression circuit starts to decompress an inside of a cavity when the cavity is closed by a sealing member provided on the metal mold. Then, as the mold-clamping process further progresses, the thermoplastic resin composite material thus filled in the metal mold contacts an upper mold of the metal mold (i.e., at time T2). After that, a second decompression circuit starts to decompress the inside of the cavity, thereby to complete the mold-clamping process (i.e., at time T3).
MOLD FOR MANUFACTURING A WIND TURBINE BLADE AND A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A WIND TURBINE BLADE
A mold for manufacturing a wind turbine blade, including: a lower mold component, and an upper mold component, wherein the lower mold component and the upper mold component form a mold cavity in the shape of a wind turbine blade, and the upper mold component includes at least two upper mold parts is provided. The required floor-to-ceiling height of a production hall is decreased and the required lifting capacity of a crane is lowered.
Continuous sheet press and method of operating same
A press for making a continuous sheet from composite material has upper and lower press belts having respective lower and upper reaches that vertically spacedly confront one another across a press gap having an upstream inlet end and a downstream outlet end, and that have transversely spaced outer edges extending in the direction. The belts are advanced direction and thereby draw a mat of the composite material in the inlet end, compress it into the sheet, and expelling the sheet from the downstream end. Two transversely spaced elastic seal strips extend in the direction in the gap and are each engaged between a respective one of the outer edges of the upper belt and the respective outer edge of the lower belt. Each belt has at each of the edges a surface in engagement with the respective edge strip and having an average peak-to-valley height of less than 1 m.
Mold for manufacturing a turbine engine fan casing from a composite material
A mold for manufacturing a turbomachine fan casing made of composite material, includes a main axis mandrel around which a fibrous preform of a fan casing is intended to be wound; a plurality of counter-mold angular sectors assembled on the outer contour of the mandrel which are intended to close the mold and to compact the fibrous preform wound on the mandrel; wherein a flat seal with a main elongation axis directed along the main axis is arranged between each angular sector, the flat seal being compressed between two adjacent angular sectors, a first angular sector including a sealing portion passing below a lower face of the flat seal while a second angular sector including a sealing portion passing above an upper face of the flat seal.
EXPANDABLE FOAMING MOLDS AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
Described herein are expandable foaming molds. The foaming molds described herein permit mold boundaries to expand along with the expanding polymer and thereby conform to the foaming dynamics of the polymer material. By modifying the temperature and pressure applied to the mold devices described herein, the properties of the resulting foamed polymer can be fine-tuned for specific applications.
MOLDING DEVICE COMPRISING MOLD SHELLS AND A GASKET FOR MANUFACTURING AN OPHTHALMIC LENS CONFIGURED TO BE WORN BY A WEARER, SUCH A GASKET, AND A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH A LENS
A molding device includes mold shells and a gasket for manufacturing by molding an ophthalmic lens configured to be worn by a wearer, the mold shells each having a molding face and a peripheral side and the gasket including a closed loop portion sandwiched between the molding faces and remotely to the peripheral sides, thus forming a molding cavity of the ophthalmic lens inside the closed loop portion of the gasket, the gasket including a plurality of elongated positioning members each projecting externally from the closed loop portion and each being fastened on a said peripheral side of at least one of the mold shells, the elongated positioning members each having a respective length which is determined in function of an optical axis characteristic of the wearer.
