Method for making hydroformed expanded spun bonded nonwoven web
A method for hydroforming a spun bonded nonwoven web includes applying a plurality of pressurized liquid jets onto an original unexpanded spun bonded nonwoven web having an original loft while the web passes over a forming structure. A plurality of spun bonded fibers in the original unexpanded spun bonded nonwoven web are reoriented from a closely packed substantially horizontal orientation to a more loosely packed orientation with greater vertical spacing between the fibers to produce a hydroformed expanded spun bonded nonwoven web having a loft of at least about 1.3 times greater than the original loft of the original unexpanded spun bonded nonwoven web, and an air permeability of at least about 1.2 times greater than an original air permeability of the original unexpanded spun bonded nonwoven web. The hydroformed expanded spun bonded nonwoven web has a surface with a plurality of protuberances in a pattern corresponding to the pattern of apertures in the forming structure.

A method of forming an electrospun prosthetic valve includes utilizing a rotatable and angularly adjustable prosthetic valve mold. The prosthetic valve mold is set to a first angle. The prosthetic valve mold is rotated at a first rotational velocity and a first layer of electrospun fibers is deposited on the prosthetic valve mold. The prosthetic valve mold is stopped and a frame is positioned over the first layer. The prosthetic valve mold is set to a second angle. The prosthetic valve mold is rotated at a second velocity and a second layer of electrospun fibers is deposited on an outer surface of the first layer and an outer surface of the frame.
V-belt manufacturing method
A production method of a V-belt uses a belt mold having a plurality of compression layer-shape grooves arranged adjacent to one another in a groove width direction. A shaped structure having a plurality of ridges on an outer peripheral surface is crosslinked and combined with a fabric material to form a belt slab, while the compression layer-forming portions, which are the ridges covered with the fabric material, being fitted in the respective compression layer-shape grooves of the belt mold. The belt slab is cut into ring-shaped pieces such that one ring-shaped piece corresponds to one compression layer-forming portion.
THERMAL EXTRUSION METHOD TO FABRICATE LARGE-DIMENSION SUPERHYDROPHOBIC CYLINDER PILLAR ARRAYS WITH DROPLET PANCAKE BOUNCING PHENOMENON
A thermal extrusion method to fabricate large-dimension superhydrophobic cylinder pillar arrays with droplet pancake bouncing phenomenon. Preparing thermal extrusion mold: the through-hole arrays with 0.81.25 mm diameter, 0.25 mm interval space and 0.61.0 mm height are first obtained on metals, and are then polished, rinsed and dried. Thermal extrusion: polymer materials are first thermally extruded on the obtained mold and cooled to room temperature. Demold: excess polymer materials flowing from the through hole are cut off and then the polymer cylinder pillar arrays are lifted off from the mold. Superhydrophobic treatment: the whole polymer sample is treated using mixed liquid spray consisting of titanium oxide nanoparticles dispersed in fluoroalkylsilane ethanol solution, and the superhydrophobic cylinder pillar arrays are obtained. The method is easy to operate, low-cost, recyclable, effective for different polymer materials, and can obtain cylinder pillar arrays with large dimensions, which can realize efficient large-area and industrial fabrication of the droplet pancake bouncing surfaces.
Method of making a hydroformed composite material
A method for hydroforming a composite precursor material includes forming a composite precursor material comprising an original spun bonded nonwoven web and a polymer film layer. The method also includes applying a plurality of pressurized liquid jets onto an outer surface of the original spun bonded nonwoven web while the composite precursor material passes over a forming structure to push and reorient a plurality of spun bonded fibers from a closely packed substantially horizontal orientation to a more loosely packed orientation with greater vertical spacing between the fibers to produce a hydroformed composite material comprising an expanded spun bonded nonwoven layer having a loft of at least about 1.3 times greater than the original loft of the original spun bonded nonwoven web, and an air permeability of at least about 1.2 times greater than an original air permeability of the original unexpanded spun bonded nonwoven web.
