20230069550 · 2023-03-02 ·

A preform for being blow-molded to form a container is provided herein. The preform comprises a finish portion that includes an opening to an interior of the preform and includes a tamper evidence ledge. The tamper evidence ledge cooperates with a tamper-evident ring portion of a cap to indicate that the cap has not been previously loosened after being installed by the manufacturer. A neck portion is disposed adjacent to the tamper evidence ledge. A tapered portion transitions from a diameter of the neck portion to a smaller diameter of a cylindrical portion. The cylindrical portion comprises an elongate member that culminates in an end cap. Threads disposed on the finish portion are configured to threadably receive the cap. A handling valley is disposed between the tamper evidence ledge and the threads. The handling valley enables gripping fingers to engage with and air-convey the container along a manufacturing assembly.

The neck portion includes a dispensing opening positioned at a top of the neck portion, threads positioned below the dispensing opening, a tamper-evident formation having a lower surface and positioned directly below the threads, and a support flange having an upper surface and a lower surface and positioned below the tamper-evident formation. In an embodiment, the plastic preform is formed of a material comprising polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and a vertical distance from the lower surface of the tamper-evident formation to the lower surface of the support flange is from 0.125 to 0.150 inches. Containers and methods for molding preforms and making containers are also disclosed.

MANUFACTURING METHOD AND MANUFACTURING APPARATUS FOR DELAMINATION CONTAINER

In a manufacturing method for a delamination container, in a first injection molding, a first recess portion is formed by a first protrusion portion in at least part of a first layer. In a second injection molding, a second recess portion which penetrates the first layer and through which a surface of a second layer is exposed is formed in a preform by inserting a second protrusion portion into the first recess portion. During a blow molding, the second recess portion is stretched to form an air introduction hole in an outer layer of the delamination container.

Blow Molding

A blow molding assembly includes a die, a mandrel, and a die holder. The die defines an inner wall. The mandrel is disposed at least partially inside the inner wall of the die and defines, with the inner wall of the die, an annular gap that shapes a molten resin passed therethrough, forming a parison. The die holder includes a body and three or more spring-loaded fasteners positioned around an inner perimeter of the body. The spring-loaded fasteners apply pressure to respective positions on an outer surface of the die while permitting movement of the die within a plane that is substantially orthogonal to a longitudinal axis of the mandrel in response to pressure variations of the molten resin, keeping a thickness of the parison substantially even. Each of the spring-loaded fasteners includes a spring-loaded plunger engaging the respective position on the outer surface of the die.

Integrally Blow-Moulded Bag-in-Container Having Interface Vents Opening to the Atmosphere at Location Adjacent to Bag's Mouth; Preform for Making It; and Processes for Producing the Preform and Bag-in-Container
20220315287 · 2022-10-06 ·

The invention is an integrally blow-moulded bag-in-container and preform and a method for making it. The bag-in-container has an inner layer forming the bag and an outer layer forming the container, and a mouth fluidly connecting the volume defined by the bag to the atmosphere. The container further has at least one interface vent fluidly connecting the interface between inner and outer layers to the atmosphere, wherein the at least one vent runs parallel to the interface between inner and outer layers and opens to the atmosphere at a location adjacent to, and oriented coaxially with the bag-in-container's mouth. Processes for manufacturing a preform and a bag-in-container as defined above are defined too.

A preform, a synthetic resin container, and a method for manufacturing a synthetic resin container in which an air passage leading from an ambient air introduction hole to a trunk can be easily preserved. In the mouth, the inner body includes a large-diameter portion provided at an upper end thereof, and a small-diameter portion continuously extending below the large-diameter portion via a connecting portion. In the mouth, the outer body is provided with an ambient air introduction hole passing through the outer body, and a neck ring positioned within a height range of the small-diameter portion. The inner body is made of a crystalline resin, and a crystallized region is formed in part of the inner body, the crystallized region having a higher degree of crystallization than other regions.

Method of making article with visual effect

Method of making a blow molded article from a preform including: a) providing a preform of a thermoplastic material having a plurality of effect structures each having an effect surface having a normal with an orientation, the preform having a body with one or more walls and an opening, wherein at least a portion of the one or more walls of the preform has a three-dimensional pattern of cavities and/or protrusions thereon; and b) blow molding the preform to form a blow molded article, wherein the step of blow molding the preform changes the orientation of the normal of at least some of the effect surfaces of the effect structures to create a visual effect in at least one wall of the blow molded article.
