VACUUM THERMOFORMING MOLD DEVICE AND A MANUFACTURING METHOD EMPLOYING SAME
A molding device for thermoforming, comprising a two-part mold that makes it possible to define an open and a closed state of the mold is provided. The first part of the two-part mold comprises a means of suction for pressing the sheet against its working surface. The means of suction includes a main means of suction and at least one secondary means of suction that is designed for and capable of generating suction in a specific limited area of the working surface, at least partially independently relative to the main means of suction. The second part of the mold comprises an added-on hollow shaping part, that is arranged so that it is located, when the mold is closed, directly facing the specific limited area of the working surface of the first part of the mold. The secondary means of suction can be controlled independently of the main means of suction.

Formed Thermoplastic Article Having Smooth Edges
The disclosure relates to forming shaped thermoplastic articles having smooth peripheries. Many thermoplastic articles have sharp edges formed upon molding or cutting the article from a feedstock sheet. Such sharp edges can damage thin plastic films or flesh which they contact, and smoothing the edges is desirable. Described herein are methods of forming a smooth periphery for such sharp-edged articles by rolling over the sharp edge. The smoothing operation is performed by forming a deflectable flange including a bend region separated from the potentially sharp peripheral edge by a spacer, deflecting a portion of the deflectable flange, and softening at least one bent portion of the deflectable flange to yield a smooth periphery upon cooling.
FILM MOLDED ARTICLE, FILM PACKAGED BODY USING THE SAME, MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR FILM MOLDED ARTICLE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR FILM PACKAGED BODY
In a film molded article (1) of the present invention, a plurality of concave or convex embossed portions (3) disposed apart from each other are formed on a surface (2a) of a film (2), and the plurality of embossed portions (3) are disposed on the surface of the film (2) to form an enclosed region (4) surrounded by the plurality of embossed portions (3) and imaginary lines (4a) that connect the plurality of embossed portions (3).
HYDRO-FORMED FILM WITH THREE-DIMENSIONAL MICRO-APERTURES
A method of processing a polymeric web includes providing a forming screen configured for supporting and moving with the web in a machine direction. The forming screen has a plurality of elliptical screen openings, each having a major axis perpendicular to the machine direction and a minor axis parallel to the machine direction. The method includes continuously depositing the web onto the forming screen and passing the web and forming screen through a water stream having a pressure level sufficient to cause the web to be forced into the screen openings, thereby forming protrusions extending from the planar surface of the web. Each protrusion has an apex, an opening at the apex, and an elliptical cross-section parallel to the planar surface of the web. The elliptical cross-section has a protrusion axis ratio that may be selected so as to produce a desired protrusion axis ratio.
Flexible display device and method of manufacturing cover window of the same
A flexible display device includes a flexible display panel, a cover window disposed on an outer side of the flexible display panel, and a polarizing plate disposed between the flexible display panel and the cover window. The cover window includes a protrusion and depression portion having protrusions and depressions formed in an inner surface thereof.
THERMOFORMING WITH PRECISION IN-LAY
A thermoforming in-lay technique is discussed that uses retractable pins to hold an in-lay piece securely in place in a primary mold. The in-lay piece is fabricated prior to the primary molding process and creates multiple pin receivers in the in-lay that are retractably engaged by the retractable pins when placed into the primary mold. When the primary substrate is formed into the primary mold, the retractable pins prevent the in-lay piece from moving out of position. Once the primary substrate has cooled sufficiently, the pins are retracted allowing the finished primary carrier art to be removed from the primary mold.
Light weight thermoplastic flex foam and hybrid duct system
An aerospace vessel including a fuselage, a means for causing the fuselage to fly coupled to the fuselage, and an environmental control system within the fuselage. The environmental control system includes a duct made of closed cell thermoplastic foam, such as polyvinylidene fluoride foam.
