Construction of tubular assemblies
A method and apparatus for constructing a tubular assembly 40 comprising an inner portion (24) and a further portion (23) surrounding the inner portion. The inner portion (24) comprises reinforcement (37) and the further portion (23) being formed from a strip (50) of material comprising two opposed longitudinal marginal side portions (53). The apparatus comprises an assembly station (220) comprising a wall (253). The apparatus comprises means for advancing the inner portion (21) along a first path (231) extending passed the wall (253), and means for advancing the strip (50) along a second path (232) and causing the strip to encircle the wall (253) and thereby wrap about and surround the inner portion (21). The apparatus further comprises means (321) for introducing resinous binder into the reinforcement (37) as the strip (50) is being wrapped about the inner portion (21).
Reinforced structure having continuous fiber reinforced elements and method of making thereof
Disclosed are reinforced structures. The structures are comprised of reinforced elements that have continuous fibers embedded in a matrix material. The reinforced elements are combined in a matrix material to form a desired shape of reinforced structure.
Sound absorbing duct with foam-filled honeycomb core for environmental control system
A duct includes a foam-filled honeycomb core structure having a tubular shape. The duct further includes an air-impermeable duct wall coupled to an exterior surface of the foam-filled honeycomb core structure.
Molded article and manufacturing method for molded article
The invention provides a molded article containing a specific fluororesin and having excellent hydrophilicity. The molded article containing the fluororesin has a melt flow rate of 1.00 g/10 min or lower and a water contact angle of 90° or smaller. The fluororesin contains at least one copolymer selected from the group consisting of a copolymer containing a tetrafluoroethylene unit and a perfluoro(alkylvinylether) unit and a copolymer containing a tetrafluoroethylene unit and a hexafluoropropylene unit.
Fixing Member-Attached Resin Pipe Manufacturing Method, Fixing Member-Attached Resin Pipe Manufacturing Device, and Fixing Member-Attached Resin Pipe
A fixing member-attached resin pipe manufacturing method including a process of placing a part of a resin pipe inside a mold for molding a fixing member, and a process of causing a molten resin to flow into the mold so as to mold the fixing member in a state in which the resin pipe is pressurized from an inside of the resin pipe by supplying a fluid into the resin pipe.
Tapered stress-relieved helically reinforced hose
Helically reinforced, flexible tubing or hose is formed from continuously extruded thermoplastic material helically circumferentially wound at a wrapping station around an array of bearing-supported rods that are concurrently but individually turned and are adjustably canted relative to an imaginary center axis. The tubing or hose being formed has a continuous reinforcing rib helically wound therearound and continuously integrally connected thereto. The resulting tubing or hose may be transversely severed at intervals along its length to provide discrete lengths of hose that are annealed while axially compressed to relieve stress.
Heat-curling polymeric needle for safe disposal
A needle having shaft that forms a tip and a portion proximate to the tip that is formed from a shape memory polymer. The shaft of the needle may be programmed to curl from a straight configuration to a curved configuration upon triggering by heat, thereby moving the sharp tip and providing a non-stick needle for safe and easy disposal.
Use of PEKK for producing parts with low gas permeability
The use of PEKK for lowering the CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2S permeability of a part intended to enter into contact with a petroleum effluent. Also, a pipe for transporting a petroleum effluent, including a layer intended to be in contact with the petroleum effluent, wherein the layer intended to be in contact with the petroleum effluent comprises PEKK and has a CO.sub.2 permeability at 130° C. of less than 10.sup.−8 cm.sup.3, for a thickness of 1 cm and a surface area of 1 cm.sup.2 and per second and bar of CO.sub.2 pressure and/or an H.sub.2S permeability at 130° C. of less than 10.sup.−8 cm.sup.3 for a thickness of 1 cm and a surface area of 1 cm.sup.2 and per second and bar of H.sub.2S pressure, the amount of CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2S being measured by GC, respectively. Lastly, a number of methods for manufacturing such a pipe.
Apparatus and method for continuously producing reinforced plastic pipe using transfer film
An apparatus and a method enable continuous production of a reinforced plastic pipe using a transfer film. The transfer film moves at a predetermined speed in the longitudinal direction and is arranged to be in close contact with a circumferential surface of a base mold which winds glass fiber wound around the outer circumferential surface thereof using a filament winding method to mold a reinforced plastic pipe, such that the reinforced plastic pipe molded with the moving transfer film is moved forward, thereby being capable of continuously producing a reinforced plastic pipe with a desired length without breakage. The apparatus includes a rotary axial pipe; a base mold; a transfer film feeding part; and a transfer film withdrawing part. The method for continuously producing a reinforced plastic pipe includes a transfer film adhering step; a transfer film forced moving step; and a pipe cutting and separating step.
Methods of making components
A method of forming a component having grooves formed into an outer surface of a component includes the steps of applying at least one mold to an outer surface of a component preform. The mold is forced into contact with the outer surface to form a detent into the outer surface.
