A method is described for making a retort container having one or two metal ends. A heat-sealable material is present on one or both of the container side wall and the/each metal end. The/each metal end is seamed onto the container body, and the resulting container assembly is conveyed on a conveyor adjacent to an induction sealing head and then adjacent to a cooling device. A pressure belt engages the upper end of the container assembly to keep the metal end from coming off the container body during the induction heating and cooling processes.

AUTOMOTIVE MOLDED-IN-COLOR THERMOPLASTIC POLYOLEFIN WITH CLEAR COATING FOR PAINT REPLACEMENT AND HIGH GLOSS APPLICATIONS

Molded-in-color thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) compositions useful for making automotive components, such as injection molded parts, as well as other articles of manufacture are described. The molded-in-color composition has a ΔE* value≤2.0 (compared to a painted color master), a gloss measured at 60° from about 76 to about 90 GU, a density ranging from about 0.9 to about 0.97 g/cm.sup.3, a melt mass flow rate from about 15 to about 40 g/10 min (ASTM D 1238, 230° C./2.16 kg), a flexural modulus between about 600 to about 2000 MPa, and an as-molded shrinkage between about 0.6% and about 1.4%. The compositions can be used to prepare molded-in-color components that can undergo additional clear coating steps as required by the automotive application. The clear coated molded-in-color components have a gloss measured at 20° from about 85 to about 95 GU and a gloss retention after mar between about 85% and about 93%.

HEATING APPARATUS, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING BEVERAGE CAPSULES

The present invention related to an apparatus and method for the manufacturing of beverage capsules. The apparatus can preheat the material used to form the beverage material during the manufacturing process. The material and apparatus are particularly suitable for use in producing single serve beverage capsules from biodegradable materials.

Pipe coupler and coupling methods

A pipe coupler has: an axis; and a body portion surrounding the axis. A circumferentially segmented collar extends from a first axial end of the body portion and has an inner diameter surface and an outer diameter surface. A plurality of fingers project from a second axial end of the body portion, axially opposite the first end and have inward radial projections.

Biaxially oriented polypropylene film with improved breakdown strength

The present invention is directed to a biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film with improved breakdown strength and to a capacitor comprising an insulation film comprising a layer of the biaxially oriented polypropylene film of the present invention. The present invention is further directed to a process for producing a biaxially oriented polypropylene film. Finally, the present invention is further directed to the use of a biaxially oriented polypropylene film of the present invention as layer of an insulation film of a capacitor. The BOPP film comprises a polypropylene composition, wherein the polypropylene composition comprises a high isotactic homopolymer of propylene and a polymeric -nucleating agent. The BOPP film has a dielectric breakdown field strength Eb63.2 of at least 595 kV/mm. The process for producing a biaxially oriented polypropylene film comprises the steps of extruding a polypropylene composition to a flat film and orienting the flat film simultaneously in the machine direction and in the transverse direction.

In-mould labelling process

There is disclosed an in-mould labelling process for the manufacture of a labelled article comprising the steps of: feeding a labelstock web into a mould; forming an article in the mould such that the formed article contacts and effectively adheres to a label of the labelstock web; detaching the adhered label from the labelstock web; and removing the formed and labelled article from the mould.

RETARDATION FILM AND PRODUCTION METHOD FOR RETARDATION FILM

A phase difference film composed of a resin containing a copolymer including polymerization units A and B, the phase difference film including a cylindrical phase separation structure that generates a structural birefringence, the phase separation structure including a phase (A) having the polymerization unit A as a main component and a phase (B) having the polymerization unit B as a main component, and the phase difference film satisfying the following condition (1) or (2). Condition (1): D(A)>D(B) and f(B)>0.5, and a direction giving a maximum refractive index among in-plane directions and an orientation direction of a cylinder in the phase separation structure are parallel to each other. Condition (2): D(A)>D(B) and f(A)>0.5, and a direction giving a maximum refractive index among in-plane directions and an orientation direction of a cylinder in the phase separation structure are orthogonal to each other.
