Process for preparing a cap or closure
A process for producing a cap or closure comprising obtaining a polypropylene composition by sequential polymerization comprising the steps: A) polymerizing in a first reactor, preferably a slurry reactor, in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst monomers comprising propylene and optionally one or more comonomers selected from ethylene and C4-C10 alpha-olefins, to obtain a first propylene polymer fraction having a comonomer content in the range of 0.0 to 1.8 wt %, and a MFR2 in the range of from 12.0 to 40.0 g/10 min, as measured according to ISO 1133 at 230 C. under a load of 2.16 kg; B) polymerizing in a second reactor, preferably a first gas-phase reactor, monomers comprising propylene and one or more comonomers selected from ethylene and C4-C10 alpha-olefins, in the presence of the first propylene polymer fraction, to obtain a second propylene polymer fraction, wherein the polypropylene composition comprising said first and second propylene polymer fractions has an MFR2 in the range of from 12.0 to 60.0 g/10 min, as measured according to ISO 1133 at 230 C. under a load of 2.16 kg, has a comonomer content in the range of from 2.2 to 5.0 wt % and wherein the ratio of the comonomer content of component A) to the comonomer content of the polypropylene composition is 0.35 or less, C) melting, extruding and moulding the polypropylene composition in the presence of at least one nucleating agent to prepare a cap or closure; and D) exposing the cap or closure obtained in step (C) to a cooling rate of 50 K/s or more.
Methods and systems for the preparation of molded plastic articles having a structural barrier layer
Disclosed herein are methods and systems for the preparation of a co-injection molded multilayer plastic article. Some methods include co-extruding a combined polymeric stream having an interior core stream encased by an inner stream and an outer stream. One or more pulses in a thickness of the interior core stream create portions of an edge of the outer flow stream flowing along different streamlines. A first portion of an outer edge of the interior core stream flows beyond a second portion of the outer edge thereby forming one or more cohesion members that physically interlock the interior layer with the inner layer, with the outer layer or with both. Some embodiments reduce or eliminate a need for addition of an adhesive in the composite stream to prevent delamination of layers of the resulting multilayer plastic article. In some embodiments, cohesion members may be employed to produce a desired cosmetic effect in a resulting article.
Method and apparatus for producing a dispensing part of a container, and dispensing part of a container
A method comprises in sequence the steps of: dispensing a continuous polymeric extrudate in a molten state; separating from the continuous extrudate a dose substantially having the shape of a parallelepiped, the dose having a separation surface at which the dose has been separated from the continuous extrudate, the dose further having a face adjacent to the separation surface; conveying the dose towards a mould comprising a first mould part and a second mould part; shaping the dose in the mould by moving the first mould part and the second mould part one towards the other in a moulding direction arranged transversally to said face, thereby obtaining a dispensing part of a container. The dispensing part comprises: an edge zone suitable for being joined to a container body; a neck surrounding a passage through which a product contained in the container can be dispensed; a membrane which closes the passage, the passage being intended to be opened after the shaping step, so that said product can flow out.

Closures with a tamper evidence feature that is reshaped to connect it to the container neck are disclosed. Methods and systems for carrying out the methods, and to mold stacks for making the closures are also disclosed. The tamper evidence feature can be a band, a portion of a cylindrical skirt or a panel formed in the cylindrical skirt. The application of heat may deform the band inwardly to create a lip for engaging a flange on the container neck, or it may weld the tamper evidence feature to the flange

PACKAGE CLOSURES AND METHODS AND DEVICES FOR PRODUCING PACKAGE CLOSURES
A method of producing a package closure (10) of plastic material by means of a mould comprising movable jaws (35, 36), a counterpart (37), an outer first tool core part (38), an inner second tool core part (39) and an ejector (40), wherein the outer first tool core part, the second tool core part and the ejector are axially displaceable relative each other, comprising the steps of axially displacing the outer first tool core part and the second tool core part in relation to each other in a first direction, thereby disengaging the cap from the outer first tool core part while keeping the inner second tool core part engaged with the cap, and then axially displacing the inner second tool core part and the outer first tool core part and/or the ejector (32) in relation to each other in the first direction or in an opposite second direction while folding a foldable portion (21) of the package closure inward through an inherent flexibility of the package closure (10), Disclosed is also a device for producing the package closure (10) and various embodiments of package closures.
