A method of forming a bi-injected closure, comprising the steps of: forming a cap with a top plate and a depending sidewall, in a first injection moulding phase using a first mould part, the cap formed so as to include one or more external sealing areas; changing the first mould part for a second mould part, the second mould part sealing against the or each sealing area on the cap; and forming an outer ring around the cap sidewall whilst the second mould part is sealed against the sealing area/s in a second moulding phase.

PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF MULTIMODAL HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE

The invention provides a process for the preparation of a multimodal high density polyethylene (HDPE) having a melt flow rate (MFR.sub.2) of 0.1 to 4.0 g/10 min, said process comprising: (i) polymerising ethylene in a first polymerisation stage in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst to prepare a first ethylene homopolymer having a MFR.sub.2 from 10 to 500 g/10 min; (ii) polymerising ethylene in a second polymerisation stage in the presence of said catalyst and said first ethylene homopolymer to prepare an ethylene homopolymer mixture comprising said first ethylene homopolymer and a second ethylene homopolymer, said mixture having a MFR.sub.2 from 50 to 1000 g/10 min; and (iii) polymerising ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin comonomer in a third polymerisation stage in the presence of said catalyst and said ethylene homopolymer mixture to prepare said multimodal HDPE.

An aluminium capsule body is inserted into a moulding cavity of a mould conformed and arranged for the overmoulding of a safety ring on an edge of an annular wall of the capsule body. An annular sealing zone is defined for the synthetic plastic material between a first surface of the capsule body and a mould first portion inserted into the central cavity of the capsule body to form a safety ring anchored to the capsule body.

One or more continuous webs bearing thermoformed first and second workpieces are directed through the mechanized assembly station tooling, which operates to both separate the first and second workpieces from the web(s) as directed therethrough and assemble the first and second workpieces in one clapping movement of the compactor plates and outer plates relative to the main base plate. Alternative assembly station tooling operates to direct first composite elements into assembled relation with stationary second composite elements for forming basic composites to which successive composite elements are similarly added.
