DYNAMIC LOAD-ABSORBING MATERIALS AND ARTICLES

A compound for protection of an object from a blast or shock wave. The compound include a matrix material and at least a first and second sets of inclusions in the matrix material that differ in size, quantity, shape and/or composition in a direction through the impact-absorbing material, the combination of which contributes to the ability of the material to exhibit at least one property that changes as the inclusions are deformed in response to a blast or shock wave.

Push-in earplug

A push-in earplug including an elongate core and outer layer is disclosed. The outer layer includes a sound attenuating portion having a first average density and a stem portion having a second average density, and the second average density is greater than the first average density.

The present invention provides an anti-shock pad, which includes: a board-shaped compound material structure, manufactured by mixing a composition and foam molding the composition, wherein the composition comprises: a main substrate, having a proportion of 50 wt % to 80 wt % of total weight of the composition, comprising: a vinyl acetate; and an ethylene-vinyl acetate; a secondary substrate, having a proportion of 10 wt % to 40 wt % of the total weight of the composition, comprising: a polyethylene; a styrene butadiene rubber; and a thermoplastic elastomer; and an additive, having a proportion of 1 wt % to 20 wt % of the total weight of the composition; wherein a density of the anti-shock pad is between 0.20 and 0.50, and a foaming ratio of the anti-shock pad is between 20 and 40. The present invention is also related to a method of manufacturing the anti-shock pad.

Armor mounting system and armor incorporating the same

A modular armor system configured to be readily attached and detached from a frame surrounding a window in a vehicle or other structure, such as a building. The modular armor system may be configured to provide any desired ballistics protection rating. In one embodiment, the modular armor system includes a ballistics-grade armor panel having an outer strike face and an inner surface opposite the outer strike face. The modular armor system also includes a fastener coupled to the ballistics-grade armor panel. The fastener is configured to detachably couple the ballistics-grade armor panel to the frame surrounding the window in the vehicle or other structure.

Earplug with tip cavity and methods of manufacturing the same

Hearing protection devices, e.g., push-to-fit earplugs, having a tip cavity in the sound attenuating body and methods of manufacturing the hearing protection devices are described herein.

Poly(vinyl acetal) resin compositions, layers, and interlayers having enhanced properties

Resin compositions, layers, and interlayers comprising a poly(vinyl acetal) resin that includes residues of an aldehyde other than n-butyraldehyde are provided. Such compositions, layers, and interlayers can exhibit enhanced or optimized properties as compared to those formulated with comparable poly(vinyl n-butyral) resins.

BALLISTIC GLASS AND METHODS OF FORMING SAME
20240151500 · 2024-05-09 ·

A method of forming ballistic glass includes heat forming a polycarbonate panel while the polycarbonate panel is sandwiched between a non-planar glass panel and a mold panel such that the polycarbonate panel is formed to a geometry of the glass panel. The polycarbonate panel is positioned adjacent the glass panel such that a volume of space is defined therebetween, and the volume of space is filled with a flowable resin. The resin is cured to form an intermediate polymer layer between the polycarbonate panel and the glass panel. Ballistic glass may be formed using such methods. Vehicles may include such ballistic glass.

Method of Foaming a Milled Precursor
20190248975 · 2019-08-15 ·

A method of making a foamed article comprises (a) milling a block or sheet of thermoplastic polymer to form a precursor; (b) crosslinking the thermoplastic polymer; (c) heating the precursor to a first temperature to soften the thermoplastic polymer; (d) infusing the thermoplastic polymer with at least one inert gas at a first pressure that is sufficient to cause the at least one inert gas to permeate into the softened thermoplastic polymer; and (e) while the thermoplastic polymer is softened, reducing the pressure to a second pressure below the first pressure to at least partially foam the precursor into a foamed article, wherein the foamed article is substantially the same shape as the precursor.

Composite element for protection devices of parts of the human body

A composite element for the realization of protection devices of parts of the human body includes a matrix, a reinforcing element, at least partially embedded in the matrix, wherein the reinforcing element has at least one opening shaped so as to define an undercut between the matrix and the reinforcing element, such undercut being suitable for determining a mechanical constraint between the matrix and the reinforcement element.
