Method for controlling a ceramic or metal powder press, and ceramic or metal powder press

The invention relates to a method of controlling a ceramic and/or metal powder press (1) for pressing a compressible material (6), wherein at least one electromotive drive (15, 16; 20, 21), which adjusts at least one punch (5; 4) along a pressing direction, is controlled in such a manner that the drive (15, 16; 20, 21) moves the punch (5; 4) along a setpoint positioning path (as1) and the drive is readjusted if it deviates from the setpoint positioning path (as1), wherein a measured force (F11, F12) acting on the compressible material (6), the punch (4) or its supporting components (17-19), is used as at least one control variable for readjustment. The invention also relates to a ceramic and/or metal powder press (1) configured to carry out the method.

Press machine

A drive unit drives a slide which vertically reciprocates for pressing the workpiece. A detection unit detects positional information about the slide. A speed control unit controls the speed of the slide by the drive unit, based on motion information defining operation of the slide. A stoppage determination calculation unit sets a deceleration start point at which deceleration of the slide is to be started, based on the motion information and a set point at which the slide is to be forced to stop. A speed control unit determines whether an abnormality signal regarding transportation of the workpiece is input, when the slide reaches the deceleration start point based on the positional information about the slide detected by the detection unit. The speed control unit performs deceleration control for the slide so that the slide is stopped at the set point, when determining that the abnormality signal is input.

METHOD FOR PRESSING A WORKPIECE WITH A PREDETERMINED PRESSING FORCE

A method for pressing a workpiece with a predetermined pressing force uses a forming tool coupled with an electric motor via a spindle drive that converts the rotational movement of the electric motor drive shaft to a translational movement of the forming tool. The method includes: accelerating the electric motor in a first rotational direction to a predetermined maximal speed of rotation; operating the electric motor at the maximal speed until the drive shaft has completed a predetermined number of revolutions; reducing the speed of rotation of the electric motor to a predetermined reduced speed of rotation; operating the electric motor at the reduced speed until a pressing force increase exceeding a predetermined threshold value is detected by a measuring unit that follows the electric motor; forming the workpiece with constant detection of the pressing force by the measuring unit until the predetermined pressing force has been reached.
