According to the invention hollow elements 100.1 like bottles (100.1a) or cans (100.1b) are not only flattened for stronger compacting and thus optionally also perforated but the generated flattened plate-shaped hollow element (100.2) is crushed additional which increases the thickness of the plate by a small amount but which further reduces overall volume. The crushing is advantageously performed by reduced speed passage through a second roller pair, the crushing roller pair (3a, b) compared to a speed of running through the pressing roller pair (1a, b).

A process for recycling aerosol cans. The process includes the steps of draining the materials of the aerosol cans, collecting the materials of the aerosol cans, and refining the contents of the aerosol cans into original products that are available for resale. The step of draining the materials of aerosol cans is done by crushing the aerosol cans in an inert atmosphere and creating a metal brick from the aerosol cans. The materials are then drained into separator tanks where they can be separated and refined for resale.

A metal scrap compressor obviates cut scraps accumulation potentially causing malfunction of a press cylinder device. In a metal scrap compressor, a press cylinder device includes: a pair of wall-like side blocks disposed between a cylinder flange at an end of a cylinder tube and a base on a base stand so as to form a frame structure; and a cup-shaped block member removably mounted on the base as disposed between these side blocks and containing therein a pressure forming chamber. The block member includes a charging opening for metal scraps, allows a press ram replaceably mounted to a distal end of a piston rod of the press cylinder device to be reciprocally slidably inserted therein through a ceiling thereof, and includes therein a press forming die replaceably mounted to a distal end of the press ram and reciprocally moved in the pressure forming chamber.

A metal scrap compressor obviates cut scraps accumulation potentially causing malfunction of a press cylinder device. In a metal scrap compressor, a press cylinder device includes: a pair of wall-like side blocks disposed between a cylinder flange at an end of a cylinder tube and a base on a base stand so as to form a frame structure; and a cup-shaped block member removably mounted on the base as disposed between these side blocks and containing therein a pressure forming chamber. A shredder includes a feed screw that pushes the items to be shredded and compacted towards an opening in the shredder via a restrictor that includes a pipe portion leading to the opening in the shredder, the shredder includes a drive motor driving a miller screw which shreds the items to be shredded into acquired size against a cutter plate fastened to a cutter housing to form shredded items, and forces the shredded items into a press chamber.

A compactor that compresses the springs in at least two, preferably three different directions. One compression is achieved through actuation of a crush chamber door. At least two of the three directions of compression are perpendicular to an axis through the springs. After the final compression is performed, the compressed springs are discharged from the crush chamber in a direction parallel to the direction of the final compression.

A fraud detection system for a reverse vending machine, the system including: a detector adapted to detect at least one container entered into the reverse vending machine; a compactor load sensor adapted to measure load of a compactor of the reverse vending machine during operation, wherein the compactor is adapted to compact entered containers downstream of the detector; and a compactor load sensor monitoring device configured to determine whether the detected at least one container is compacted as expected based on the load measured by the compactor load sensor.

A compactor arrangement (202) includes a compactor; an empty-container transport device for transporting empty containers in the compactor arrangement in a transport region above the empty-container transport device; a first anti-encroachment guard structure which laterally delimits the transport region and which is provided between the transport region and the compactor, wherein the first anti-encroachment guard structure defines a feed region through which empty containers can be fed laterally out of the transport region to the compactor; and a guard device having a second anti-encroachment guard structure which is configured such that, selectively, an encroachment from the direction of the transport region into the feed region can be prevented.

An apparatus for compacting waste objects includes a seat provided with a support assembly for supporting the waste object to be compacted; a push member being moveable inside the seat for compacting in use of the apparatus the waste object against an end wall of the seat; the support assembly including two support members that rotate away from each other for discharging the compacted object through an aperture. The support members can impede discharge of a compacted object of a specific type through the aperture to collect the compacted object of the specific type in a dedicated container. Protuberances can be applied to the push member and an end wall of the seat for producing depressions in the compacted object so that the compacted object does not lose the compacted condition once pressure applied by the push member is removed.
