An example lavatory waste compartment includes a waste bin having a waste compartment for trash, a waste flap providing an opening into the waste compartment for insertion of the trash, and a manually operated trash compactor coupled to a ceiling. The manually operated trash compactor includes an expansion component connected to a compacting head, and a retraction component coupled to the expansion component to hold or retract the expansion component to a stowed position. An increase in temperature above a threshold temperature causes the retraction component to release the expansion component resulting in deployment of the compacting head into the waste bin. An actuation device is provided to deploy the expansion component from the stowed position, and when deployed, the expansion component blocks opening of the waste flap, and the retraction component causes the expansion component to retract to the stowed position via release of the actuation device.

A hot forming tool includes a top tool and a bottom tool, both of which can be moved towards each other. When the hot forming tool is closed, a mold cavity is formed between the top tool and the bottom tool, with the top tool and/or the bottom tool being divided into at least two segments. The hot forming tool has one segment designed as a heating segment. The heating segment includes a compensating element on a side thereof opposite the mold cavity, to compensate for a thermal expansion of the heating segment in the press stroke direction.

A trash compactor system includes a receptacle defining a retaining chamber that is configured to receive and retain trash, a compaction plate moveably secured within the retaining chamber, and a foot pedal operatively coupled to the compaction plate. Engagement of the foot pedal moves the compaction plate within the retaining chamber to compact the trash retained within the retaining chamber. A flap may cover an opening into the retaining chamber. The foot pedal may also be operatively coupled to the flap, such that the engagement of the foot pedal moves the flap into an open position that exposes the opening.

An upper beam is movable in the direction of a primary axis (y) of the bending machine relative to a lower beam to form a workpiece which can be inserted between the upper beam and the lower beam via a front side. A position measuring system for measuring and monitoring a respective position of the upper beam with respect to a reference position is provided. The position measuring system is configured such that a linearly movable measuring unit follows a movement of the upper beam in the direction of the primary axis (y) and moves along a stationary linear element. The linearly movable measuring unit is held on the upper beam by a connecting element that is resistant to deformation in the direction of the primary axis (y), and configured to be elastic in the width direction (z) and/or a depth direction (x).
