Extensible Paper And Its Use In The Production Of Expanded Slit Packaging And Void Fill Products
An extensible slit sheet paper product is produced having an expandable slit pattern that forms open cells upon expansion of the paper product. The paper product is an extensible paper having an extensibility in the range from 1-9% in the machine direction and 1-5% in the cross direction. The expansion produces an array of hexagonal cells. The expanded extensible paper can be used to wrap an object for shipping by wrapping and cushioning the object in the expanded slit sheet material. The extensible, expandable slit sheet paper can be wrapped around itself to produce a void fill product.
Paperboard corner, and method of manufacturing the same
The invention concerns an elongated protective corner for the transport and/or packaging of products. The corner has at least two non-corrugated paperboard plies combined together to create two perpendicular wings and an apex The plies form multiple ply sections, and at least one of the ply sections of a given ply overlaps another ply section of the same ply. This overlapping arrangement gives the apex a resistance force of about 100 to about 500 lbs. The thickness of the corner can vary, with each wing being in the range of about 100 to about 250 points, and each ply is made from paperboard having a grammage of about 120 to about 380 g/m.sup.2. The resistance force can be determined by mounting the corner upon two blocks, and applying a force to the apex at a middle of the corner until a fracture is detected.

FIBRE-CONTAINING SHEET COMPRISING A FOLDING PATTERN AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME
A fibre-containing sheet comprising a folding pattern and a partly or fully folded sheet product obtained from the fibre-containing sheet is disclosed. The folding pattern of the fibre-containing sheet comprises a series of parallel straight fold lines and a series of zigzag fold lines. Each zigzag fold line has a breadth which is greater than a breadth of a straight fold line. The partly folded sheet product can be shaped into various complex geometrical shapes, including spheres and saddle points, as a result of the folding pattern. A method for producing the fibre-containing sheet as well as use of the fibre-containing sheet is also disclosed.
