METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING NEAR-NET SHAPE NATURAL FIBER REINFORCED POLYMER COMPOSITE PANELS
A fiber-reinforced polymer composite assembly, that includes a plurality of sheets, each formed from a composite mixture including a fibrous material and a resin, wherein each of the first plurality of sheets are cut to one or more predetermined dimensions. The plurality of sheets are configured to form a stack, and wherein the stack is shaped by positioning the stack on a mold and pressing and consolidating/curing the stack to form a doubly-curved geometric shape. An insert may be positioned between the plurality of sheets, prior to the pressing and consolidating/curing, wherein the fibrous material may in include paper, and wherein the resin includes one of a thermoset resin or a thermoplastic resin.
PAYMENT CARD WITH ENHANCED EDGE PATTERNS
Aspects described herein may allow for a payment card having enhanced edge patterns. The payment card may include a complex edge morphology on the physical card that may make the payment card more likely to be used by consumers and makes the payment card stand out due to the enhanced edge design. The edge of the payment card may be reeded, crenelated, or may include various shapes of various sizes on one or more of the edge walls extending around the payment card. The edge of the payment card may also include dimples, chips, and/or other complex design patterns cut into the face of the payment card close to the edge. The payment card may also include inclusions of other materials, such as metals, ceramic, and/or polymer to be added which fill or partially fill any voids produced by the edge patterns.

Surgical barriers possessing clinically important absorption characteristics
The present disclosure provides copolymers useful in medical devices. For example, the disclosure provides copolymers comprising the polymerization product ester block, ether blocks and diisocyanates. In certain embodiments, the disclosure provides a medical copolymer for implantation comprising ester blocks and ether blocks, wherein: the ester blocks comprise a negative free energy transfer and the ether blocks comprise a positive free energy transfer, the ether and ester blocks are less than 1/10 the length of said copolymer, and, the blocks are distributed such that no domain of contiguous blocks possessing the same polarity of free energy transfer are less than ⅓ of the molecular weight of the copolymer. The disclosure further provides methods of making the aforementioned polymers, and medical devices comprising the polymers.

Film application method and construction panel
A method of applying a protective film to a construction panel comprising: (a) selectively applying an adhesive composition to a peripheral region of a surface of the construction panel; and/or selectively applying an adhesive composition to a peripheral region of a surface of the protective film; and (b) applying a protective film to the surface of the construction panel to bond the protective film to the construction panel. A construction panel comprising a protective film layer on a surface of the panel and a peripheral adhesive composition layer located between said surface of the panel and the protective film layer, wherein the peripheral adhesive composition layer extends from an edge of the panel and across from about 0.1% to about 25% of the width of the surface.

Laminate countertop with synthetic polymer substrate
A laminate countertop with a curved edge profile includes a base support including a synthetic polymer material. The synthetic polymer material can be a closed-cell polymer foam. The base support includes a top surface, a bottom surface, opposing longitudinal sides, at least one of which comprises the curved edge profile, and opposing latitudinal sides. The countertop also includes a laminate cover formed from a cured resin material adhered to and covering at least a portion of the top surface and at least a portion of the curved edge profile of the base support. A method for forming the laminate countertop includes steps of providing the base support and adhering the laminate cover over at least a portion of the top surface and a portion of the curved edge profile of the base support.
PROTECTION OF SURFACE TEXTURES FROM ABRASION
Disclosed herein is an article that protects surface textures from abrasion as a result of regular wear and tear. The article comprises a substrate comprising a first texture and a second texture, where the second texture is in a protective relationship with the first texture and protects elements of the first texture from being abraded by an external surface. The first texture comprises a first plurality of features having a first height measured from a base of the substrate and the second texture comprises a second plurality of features having a second height measured from the base of the substrate. The height of the second texture is greater than the height of the first texture. The second texture comprises a plurality of non-uniform cells; and wherein the first texture is disposed on a surface of the second texture.
