FLOW CELLS AND METHODS FOR THEIR MANUFACTURE AND USE
A flow cell that includes (a) a gasket interposed between a first substrate and a second substrate, wherein the gasket, the first substrate and the second substrate are impermeable to aqueous liquid and liquid adhesive, wherein the gasket has a footprint on the first substrate that delineates a channel for containing the aqueous liquid; (b) a via in the gasket, the via containing a solidified liquid adhesive that bonds the first substrate to the second substrate, wherein the solidified liquid adhesive in the via is separated from the channel by the gasket; and (c) a channel port connecting the channel to the exterior of the flow cell, wherein the channel port is permeable to the aqueous liquid.
PACKAGING SHEETING AND A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING PACKAGING SHEETING
A method of manufacturing sheeting is provided, the method including the steps of forming multiple recesses in a symmetrical repeat pattern on a sheet of material, extruding a molten material to form an upper outside wall and a lower outside wall, interposing the formed sheet between the upper outside wall and the lower outside wall, and fixing the interposed sheet to the upper outside wall and the lower outside wall. Also provided is sheeting having an upper outside wall and a lower outside wall and an interposed sheet fixed between the outside walls. The interposed sheet includes multiple recesses in a symmetrical repeat pattern, where the upper and lower outside walls are, or the interposed sheet is, manufactured from a material which includes a polymeric material.
Method of manufacturing a composite part
A method of fabricating a composite material, the method comprises the steps of a) providing a first layer of a fibre reinforced polymer, preferably a thermoset FRP, b) providing an array of thermoplastic islands across at least a proportion of a major surface of the first layer, c) providing a second layer of a fibre reinforced polymer, preferably a thermoset FRP, d) laying the second layer over at least some of the islands, and e) securing the first and second layers together. There is also disclosed a composite which comprises a first layer of a fibre reinforced polymer and a second layer of a fibre reinforced polymer, between which is an intervening layer comprising an array of thermoplastic islands.
Composites
A composite which comprises a first layer of a fibre reinforced polymer and a second layer of a fibre reinforced polymer, between which is an intervening layer comprising an array of thermoplastic islands.
Segmented film adhesive, method of making the adhesive and method of applying the adhesive to a non-planar surface
A method of applying an adhesive to a non-planar surface. The method includes providing a segmented film adhesive. The segmented film adhesive comprises: (i) a liner; and (ii) an adhesive layer on the liner, the adhesive layer comprising a plurality of contiguous, discrete adhesive segments. The segmented film adhesive is positioned on a non-planar surface of a first adherend so that a first portion of the discrete adhesive segments are in contact with the non-planar surface and a second portion of the discrete adhesive segments are not in contact with the non-planar surface. The liner is removed from the non-planar surface, wherein only the first portion of the discrete adhesive segments remain on the non-planar surface of the first adherend.
Wrappable protective sleeve with closure and locating feature and methods of construction and use thereof
A wrappable protective sleeve for providing protection to at least one elongate member contained therein and methods of construction and use thereof are provided. The sleeve includes a flexible textile wall having opposite inner and outer faces bounded by opposite edges and opposite ends. The opposite edges extend generally parallel to one another between the opposite ends. A pair of adhesive layers is bonded to the inner face, with each of the adhesive layers being spaced from one another. The adhesive layers extend between the opposite ends adjacent the opposite edges. Further, a release paper is releasably adhered to the pair of adhesive layers for subsequent removal and use of the sleeve.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND ARTICLES FOR PRODUCING A FILM PATTERN ON A SUBSTRATE MATERIAL
Aspects herein are directed to systems, methods, and articles for producing a patterned film and using the patterned film to form a pattern of discrete overlay film structures on a substrate material. A uniform thickness of a film material is deposited on to a first surface of a run of carrier sheets, where each carrier sheet includes one or more holes extending there through. A first carrier sheet is extracted from the run of carrier sheets, and a second surface of the carrier sheet is positioned on a substrate material. Heat and/or pressure is applied to the film material to cause the film material to transfer to the substrate material through the one or more holes in the carrier sheet forming a pattern of discrete overlay film structures on the substrate material. The carrier sheet along with remaining portions of the film material is removed from the substrate material.
AUTOMATIC TEXTILE WINDING SYSTEM WITH MULTI-STRANDED ROTATABLE YARN FEED
A system for forming a non-woven, yarn structure for an engineered textile includes a jig having a plurality of upstanding pins and an automatic winding system for winding a plurality of continuous strands of yarn across the jig and around the upstanding pins. The automatic winding system includes a movement mechanism and a winding head coupled with the movement mechanism. The movement mechanism includes one or more motors that are configured to translate the winding head across a central workspace area of the jig. The winding head includes a rotatable base; a plurality of yarn guides arranged in a linear array and extending from the rotatable base, each yarn guide adapted to receive a different one of the continuous strands, and a rotation motor coupled to the rotatable base and configured to selectively rotate the base to alter an orientation of the linear array.
Waterproof corrugated paper, manufacturing method thereof, manufacturing apparatus thereof, and usage thereof
A waterproof corrugated paper includes at least one stone paper medium and at least one stone liner paper, wherein the at least one stone paper medium includes a first fluting surface. A stone glue is utilized to adhere the at least one stone liner paper and several wave crests of the first fluting surface. The stone glue includes a linear polyolefin plastic material and an inorganic material. The linear polyolefin plastic material is 30 wt %-70 wt % based on the stone glue, and the inorganic material is 30 wt %-70 wt % based on the stone glue. The waterproof corrugated paper provided by the present invention is waterproof and frost-resistant, which is adapted to package cooled or frozen food. A manufacturing method, a manufacturing apparatus, and a usage of the waterproof corrugated paper are also provided in the present invention.
