VALVE AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
A method of making a one-way gas release valve for releasing gas pressure from within a coffee container comprises pre-oiling a relatively narrow dry strap of flexible material and laminating the pre-oiled dry strap between relatively wide ribbons of base and cover material with the dry strap overlying spaced vent patterns in the base material. Alternatively, the base material may be pre-oiled or both the base material and the dry strap may be pre-oiled. The dry strap and base may be made of PET and the cover may be made of mPET. Gas release valves are then die cut from the resulting web with each valve containing a vent pattern. Pre-oiling of the dry strap and/or the base can be accomplished through a roll metered process to insure that the oil is applied in precise amounts and with consistent thickness and coverage. Since the oil is applied during fabrication of the gas release valves, the vent patterns in the base can be configured to function also as a filter to prevent coffee grinds from migrating into the valve.
Electrorheological Fluid Structure Having Strain Relief Element and Method of Fabrication
An article may include a first polymeric material layer having a surface. A first conductive trace may form at least a portion of the first layer surface. The article may further include a second polymeric material layer. The second layer may have a first surface, a portion of the second layer first surface being bonded to a portion of the first layer surface. The second layer may have a portion of a channel defined therein, the channel at least partially coinciding with a portion of the first conductive trace. The article may also include a first patch interposed between the first layer surface and the second layer first surface. The first patch may span the channel and cover a portion of the first conductive trace.
Flexible display and method of manufacturing the same
A flexible display is disclosed. In one aspect, the display includes a flexible substrate and a protection film formed over the flexible substrate. The display further includes a layer of adhesive material formed between the flexible substrate and the protection film, wherein a plurality of patterns are formed in the adhesive layer.
Method for producing corrugated board
An apparatus is provided for producing longitudinally corrugated product. The apparatus includes a guide roll for guiding a web of medium material, wherein at least a portion of the guide roll is adapted to be arranged at an angle relative to another portion of the guide roll. The apparatus further includes a plurality of flute forming bars oriented generally along a longitudinal axis of the web to define a first corrugating labyrinth effective to longitudinally corrugate the web to an intermediate geometry. The apparatus further includes a pair of corrugating rollers that cooperate to define, at a nip therebetween, a second corrugating labyrinth effective to longitudinally corrugate the web to a substantially final geometry. The apparatus further includes a web travel pathway for the web that follows a path around a portion of the guide roll, through the first corrugating labyrinth, and through the second corrugating labyrinth.
Apparatus for reticulation of adhesive and methods of use thereof
A method, apparatus, and system for reticulating an adhesive on a workpiece. The workpiece may be perforated with a plurality of passages that extend through a first side to a second side. To reticulate an adhesive on the first side of a workpiece, a flow of heated fluid is provided through a nozzle. The nozzle provides the fluid at a first pressure to a first group of the perforations. Once the temperature at the first side of the workpiece reaches a specified range, the fluid pressure may be increased or otherwise set in order to clear the perforations by forcing the adhesive out of or away from each of the perforations. Temperature of the adhesive, pressure within the nozzle, and/or light passage through the perforations may be monitored for logical control or quality assurance.
Methods for sealing the edges of multi-layer articles
Methods for preparing edge-sealed multi-layer film articles include applying a sealant composition to a multi-layer film article that includes at least one polymeric film layer, and permitting the sealant composition to dry to form an edge-sealed article. The sealant composition includes at least one solvent capable of softening, penetrating or dissolving the polymeric film layer of the multi-layer film article, and at least one polymer dissolved in the solvent. The polymer dissolved in the solvent may be a fluoropolymer, a non-tacky at ambient temperatures(meth)acrylate-based block copolymer, or a combination thereof. Edge-sealed articles prepared by this method can include other polymeric film layers or coated layers such as metallic layers and can be part of larger assemblies.
A Multilayer Test Pack for Sterilization Monitoring
The disclosed multilayer test pack comprises a channel lamina to form a recessed channel, and then a seal layer covers the recessed channel to form an embedded channel By providing the recessed channel in a thin-film channel lamina, the recessed channel tolerances are better controlled. Further, using thin films for the channel lamina, which can be formed into a roll, allows for a continuous unrolling and continuous bonding to a seal layer.
Method constructing a fabric jacketed unidirectional noodle
A method of constructing a composite, radius filler noodle for a co-cured spar or stringer used in aircraft construction includes forming a core of the noodle from unidirectional pre-preg tape and stacking pluralities of pre-prep fabric strips in layers surrounding the core.
Label stacking machine and method
A device for stacking a plurality of partially connected labels into a plurality of partially connected pads of labels comprises a robot arm having at least one vacuum source configured to selectively supply a vacuum force. The device also includes a plate coupled to the robot arm and a flexible pad coupled to the plate and including a plurality of apertures configured to direct the majority of the vacuum force through the flexible pad to a surface of the plurality of partially connected labels.
Lamination apparatus
A lamination apparatus includes: a window jig to support a window, and a heating member in the window jig to partially heat the window jig. The window jig includes a flat portion including a first sidewall area, a second sidewall area facing the first sidewall area in a first direction, a third sidewall area perpendicular to the first sidewall area, and a fourth sidewall area perpendicular to the first sidewall area and facing the third sidewall area in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, a first protrusion portion protruding in a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions on the first sidewall area, and a second protrusion portion protruding in the third direction on the second sidewall area.
